Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: La Paz – Pelechuco. Four-wheel drive to the southeastern shores of Lake Titicaca and then Escoma, an ancient indigenous sanctuary. The road will lead us inland towards the Ulla Ulla puna plains and the Muñecas and Apolobamba mountain ranges. Arrival to Pelechuco in the mid-afternoon. Accommodation in Pelechuco. Includes: (L), (D).

Day 2: Pelechuco – Palca. Our guides will load up horses and mules, then we start a 1,000 m ascension to the Keani Pass (4,800 m). Later, our knees will feel the steep descent to the bottom of a very narrow valley until the Palca village surrounded by llama and alpaca pastures and soaring mountains. Here, we will set up our first camp. Includes: (B), (L), (D).

Day 3: Palca – Sunchilli. Today will be our greatest challenge. An extended climb up to 5,100 m will take us to the highest pass of the trek. After a 9 hours walk, we will reach Sunchilli, a gold-rich valley exploited since pre-Columbian times. Today, small mining operations occupy themselves in search of the entrance a hidden legendary Inca mine. Camp near a mine at 4,500 m. Includes: (B), (L), (D).

Day 4: Sunchilli – Inca Cancha. As every day’s routine, we will climb another pass, fortunately not so high. Through narrow paths and secondary roads, we will walk on rolling hills and approach the Akamani, the sacred mountain of the Kallawayas (5,880 m). Later gradual descent of a very steep valley, then another 500 m climb that will lead us to our camp, located in a flat and grassy area surrounded by two frozen streams. This day we will walk about 6-7 hours. Includes: (B), (L), (D).

Day 5: Inca Cancha – Curva. After a very long climb, we will reach the last pass, then we will continue a long stretch crossing small farming plots and medicinal gardens, and before we head towards Curva, we will camp near a crystalline river. Includes: (B), (L), (D).

Day 6: Curva – La Paz. We will break our camp and have a 3-hour hike to the town of Curva (3,600 m). There we will get tickets and load our backpacks in a public bus. Short exploration of Curva and surroundings and late afternoon departure. Arrival in La Paz late at night. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
