Day 1: A van will pick you up at the international airport. Transfer to Hotel Quality Centro Colon or similar. Overnight.
Day 2: Early morning you will be picked up by a Calypso Catamaran Yacht tour operator who will transfer you in a luxury bus with a/c to Puntarenas dock. Upon arrival, you will board the famous Calypso Catamaran Yacht which includes 2 jacuzzis and lots of room to sunbath on your way to Tortuga Island. The yacht has an air-conditioned area also. Light breakfast with fruits, bread, coffee and a full lunch plus non-alcoholic beverages included. Get prepared for a relaxing yacht trip through the Nicoya Gulf.
Around one and a half - two hours and you will be at the Tortuga Island, known for its white sand beach and turquoise water. You will stay here during five hours, so take your time to swim, snorkeling, and then enjoy a succulent and delicious lunch. On the way back to Puntarenas, the Catamaran will pass near the islands of San Lucas, Gitana, Pan de Azucar, Jesusita, Cedros and the Guayabo Island National Park. Upon arrival to Puntarenas, a van from Hotel Heliconia will waiting for you to take you to the beautiful area of Monteverde. Check in and overnight at Hotel Heliconia. Includes: (B), (L).
Day 3: After breakfast, a guide will pick you up and will take you to Selvatura, where you will enjoy an exciting canopy tour. Selvatura is a conservation project located in Monteverde, a location world famous for its cloud forest. Our Canopy Tour has 12 cables and 14 platforms which add up to a total of 2.3 miles of total cable length. It also has the longest cable in the country with a length of half a mile.
Selvatura’s Canopy Tour is also the only canopy tour built entirely inside the virgin cloud forest and does not go through pasture land of on the sight and over public roads. While in Selvatura, you can also have any of the optional tours such as hanging bridges, butterfly farm, insect museum, hummingbird gallery and reptiles. Back to Heliconia. In the afternoon, you can have any of the optional tours like horseback riding, visit to the Santa Elena village or you may just want to walk around. Overnight. Includes: (B).
Day 4: After breakfast, a van from Hotel Heliconia will take you to the Arenal Lake, where you will board a boat heading to the amazing Arenal Volcano. The “Jeep-Boat-Jeep transportation is a comfortable type of transportation which takes you to Arenal in only 2.1/2 hours allowing views of the beautiful scenery including the transition from Cloud Forest to the Rain Forest.
Lodging will be offered at one of the newest hotels of the area, Arenal Springs which offers spacious, comfortable room with panoramic views to the volcano. Enjoy the marvelous spot for viewing the incredible Arenal Volcano directly from your room. Arrival to Arenal will be around 11:00 a.m. and free day to enjoy the hotel’s facilities or for taking any of the optional activities of the area. Lodging will be offered at Arenal Springs or similar of the area. Overnight. Includes: (B).
Day 5: Hiking tour to Lava Flows and Hotsprings. Breakfast, free morning. In the afternoon, around 3:00 p.m. a guide will pick you up and will offer a guided walking tour to “El Silencio Trail” and a stop at “El Mirador” where you will be witness of the strength of this amazing mountain of fire. For over 400 years Arenal volcano’s forest-covered cone sat alone and silent on the edge of the San Carlos plains, exhibiting only a little fumaroles activity in its single, dormant crater.
In 1968 it erupted violently without warning, spewing molten rock and ash high into the sky, destroying the village of Pueblo Nuevo, killing 78 people, and forming three new craters. It has been active ever since with more or less regular eruptions of lava and ash providing fiery demonstrations that draw curios onlookers from all parts of the world.
Arenal’s constant activity has covered the two lower craters on the western, rocky slope. Viewed from north or south its two remaining craters appear as twin peaks belching ash and rock. After this, he will take you to Eco Termales Hotsprings for 3 relaxing hours at the natural swimming pools surrounded by exotic rainforest and a delicious dinner. Back to your hotel around 9:00.
Day 6: Tortuguero National Park. Early breakfast and private transportation to Siquirres where you will continue your exciting experience at the World-famous Tortuguero National Park. Once in Siquirres, a van from Mawamba or Laguna Lodge will pick you up to take you to this amazing National Park. Be our special guest in a banana processing and packing plant and learn more about one of Costa Rica’s prime products (subject to availability).
Board a comfortable boat upon arrival to the port and let this extraordinarily exotic paradise enchant you, as you travel along the Tortuguero Canals. Have a one-in-a-lifetime experience in this unique place surrounded by a great variety of flora and fauna of breathtaking beauty. A refreshing cocktail and delicious lunch will welcome you to your hotel. After lunch, a visit to the museum, the beach area and the small and picturesque town of Tortuguero is included. Day 7: Tortuguero National Park. 6:30 a.m. Optional morning tour: Enjoy nature at its best as you undertake a journey through the canals, a network of navigable waterways of great scenic beauty crosses the park from southeast to northwest. The canals and marshes are the habitat of 7 species of tortoise. They also provide shelter to the endangered West Indian manatee (Trichchus manatus) and the rare crocodile (Crocodylus acutus). Back to the lodge for breakfast.
Get ready to hike Tortuguero Hill or travel along the well-known Tortuguero Canals and have the experience of your life in this unique paradise of magnificent flora and fauna. After lunch, take your time to enjoy our private trails, ride a boat through the canals, swim at our turtle-shaped swimming pool, or just relax. Dinner and overnight. Includes: (B, L, D).
Day 8: Puerto Viejo Beach. After breakfast, please board the boat back to the port and then continue the trip to the beautiful Puerto Viejo Beach where you will stay at Azania or Cariblue Boungalows for 2 nights. A natural blend of adventure and serenity, in a laid-back Caribbean Villa envisioned in dreams” Azania Bungalows is located in front of Cocles Beach (awarded with the Costa Rican Government Blue Flag for clean beaches), 1,5 km south of Puerto Viejo of Talamanca, on the road to Manzanillo, South Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica.
Just a few steps from the Caribbean sea, with the tropical rainforest in background, the spacious and tastefully decorated bungalows are privately set apart amidst lush gardens full of colour and natural beauty. Day 10: Breakfast included. Private transportation to San José or domestic flight from Limon to San Josè. (if available) Lodging at Britannia hotel or similar.
Day 11: Breakfast and transportation to international airport.
