Morning departure towards the Chacaltaya Glacier, once the highest skiing place in the world at 5300 m. The drive from La Paz City takes 1.5 hrs. Once at the glacier, you can start a slow climb to the summit and spend about 2 hours up there, enjoying spectacular views of the lake and the Cordillera Real.
Later drive towards the base of the Huayna Potosi at 4,700 m to walk the old glaciers that are easily accessible through an easy path that will take you at almost 4,500 m. The views of massive glaciers are astonishing. Later 1.5 hr hike to the refuge to take our car back to La Paz.
Note: The Chacaltaya Glacier offer possibilities for skiing some weeks a year.
