An interesting tour accessible from La Paz including a visit to the Callamarca Community located near Tihuanaco. This Aymara community still preserves local and agricultural knowledge learned since immemorial times. Local authorities or savvy yatiris, men and women all nicely attired in traditional dresses will welcome you while a group of musicians will perform pipes and drums. You will be invited to participate in an agricultural blessing ritual that varies along the year. The savvy will make offerings to the Apus or sacred mountains.
After the ritual, you will taste an early lunch made from local crops including potatoes, corn, lima beans, quinoa, and other produced in the communal lands. Later drive to the Tihuanaco Archaeological Site to visit the site museum and later walk to the Akapana Pyramid. Return to La Paz by sunset enjoying great views of several sacred snow peaks from the Cordillera Real such as the Huayna Potosi, Anccohuma and Illimani. Fixed departures every Saturday.
