This safari includes a visit to one of South Africa more beautiful and only desert mountain National Park, the Richtersvelt, home of the Nama people. The mountains of the Richtersvelt are truly awe inspiring and the feeling of wilderness and isolation is the primary attraction of the Park for endless botanists, photographers and other lovers of remote places. This is a seldom visited National Park due to its ruggedness and relative inaccessibility.
This safari also includes traveling through the remote areas of Namaqualand, famous for its beautiful spring daisies and flowers, visits to the quaint country drop of Pofadder and follows the Orange river as it winds its way to the Atlantic Ocean. Visit Pella with its lovely old Cathedral along the way. Each night bush camp in remote spots on the banks of the Orange River such as Potjiespram, de Hoop, and Kamgab where you can swim in one of the few rivers in Africa without the company of hippo, crocodile and bilharzia.
All safaris are planned to depart from and return to Johannesburg, but at an added cost, this safari can also commence in Cape Town, Kimberley or Bloemfontein. We specialize in providing mobile safaris in air-conditioned off-road game viewing vehicles led by experienced guides. All camping equipment and facilities together with all food and meals are provided. Each safari camp will typically comprise 2-3 two man tents, fully enclosed and insect proof, comfortable stretchers and sleeping bags. Bush table and chairs, outdoor shower and latrine facilities are also provided.
Whereas the Tour Operator presents this itinerary in good faith, it is in the nature of a safari that for reasons beyond its control, not all aspects of a itinerary may be available at the time the safari takes place. In this instance, the Operator will in our discretion replace certain items, venues or routes with those of a similar or equal nature.
A word about this safari. This safari is run on a semi-participation basis. That is to say a driver guide will accompany you, who will also do the cooking and serve meals. It is expected that clients will erect and take down their own tents and generally lend a hand with camp chores etc.
