Tour Itinerary:
Day 1, 22 Dec: Arrival Kaajani, Finland. Evening arrival to Kaajani Airport. Santa’s friendly elves will be waiting upon your arrival at Kaajani Airport. Transfer from the airport to Hotel Kalevala in Kuhmo. On the way, “Glogi” and gingerbread will be served. Check-in at Hotel Kalevala upon arrival. Welcome drink and dinner will be served at the hotel restaurant. Overnight at Hotel Kalevala. Includes: (D).
Day 2, 23 Dec: Fairy Tale Continues. A get together with your Christmas host after breakfast. Your host will tell you about your Christmas program, optional activities available during your stay and introduce the Christmas staff at the hotel. Afterwards, free time in the morning to either relax or enjoy the outdoor activities available for you: tobogganing, kick-sledding. A light lunch will be served at the hotel.
Fairy Tale Christmas Tour. In the afternoon, we’ll walk through the snowy road to meet Santa Claus and his elves at Santa’s Office. Enjoy a Christmas walk along a forest trail in a beautiful and tranquil land of snow, unspoilt panoramas of pine trees. The trail is full of surprises and lit by ice candles and open fires. In Santa’s workshop, elves are making and gift wrapping Christmas presents. We have the possibility to do Christmas decorations and learn how to make gingerbreads – and taste them too of course!
In the Forest Lodge you’ll enjoy hot drinks and hear more Christmas stories from elves. Finally, see the children’s eyes sparkle with delight and excitement, when they meet Santa Claus. In this Christmas fantasy time stops still and children will experience something which will long remain vivid in their memories. Including small gift for children.
Evening sauna. In the evening, transfer by bus to Kuhmo Arts Center where you will hear a Christmas concert. Young musicians from Kuhmo music school will play the most famous Christmas songs. Return to Hotel Kalevala afterward. Dinner will be served at the hotel restaurant. Overnight at Hotel Kalevala. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 3, 24 Dec: Christmas Eve. After breakfast, we’ll make a magical journey across the snowy landscape and bring the Christmas tree and decorate it. You will have a chance to bake Christmas pastries with the Christmas elves. A traditional Christmas rice-porridge at the hotel will be served during lunch. The person who finds the almond hidden into the porridge will get a prize.
In the afternoon, transfer by bus to Kuhmo cemetery where everyone can light up a candle and experience a Finnish Christmas Eve tradition. Return to the hotel afterwards. Santa Claus comes with Rudolf the Reindeer! Christmas sauna. Enjoy a Christmas Eve buffet and traditional Finnish Christmas program, including a children’s performance. Get together by the fireplace in the evening. Overnight at Hotel Kalevala. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 4, 25 Dec: Christmas Day. Breakfast at the hotel. At 10am, transfer by bus to attend Christmas Church. Christmas day is at leisure to either relax or do some optional activities. Lunch at the hotel. Evening sauna. A buffet dinner will be served at the hotel restaurant. Dancing afterwards. Overnight at Hotel Kalevala. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 5: 26 Dec: Boxing Day. After breakfast, experience traditional “Boxing Day” by the lake. A chance to try horse-sleigh, husky dog sleigh ride, reindeer sledge, and a snowmobile sleigh drive. Hot juice will be served by an open fire. Lunch at the hotel. Afternoon is free for relaxing or doing some optional activities. Evening sauna and dinner at the hotel. Late night outside by the fireplace where coffee/ tea/ juice will be served.
Experience a Samporite. During this fascinating Sampo rite you’ll here a story of Sampo – the unknown thing which brought a lot of happiness and richness to the people in Northland. Story is based on Finnish National Epic Kalevala and is told to us tonight by a Kalevala Shaman. During the rite you’ll get one piece of this Sampo – you will find out what this piece could bring to you after the shaman has gone. Overnight at Hotel Kalevala. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 6, 27 Dec: Day Relaxing. Breakfast at the hotel. Full day at leisure for relaxing, optional activities, shopping. Light lunch will be served at the hotel. Evening sauna and dinner with folklore program of the traditional Helka group (a local group of boys and girls, performing traditional dances and songs). Overnight at Hotel Kalevala. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 7, 28 Dec: Departure Hotel Kelevala. After breakfast, transfer by bus to Kaajani Airport. End of services and Bon Voyage! Includes: (B).
