It made a name for itself in the sixth century, when the Grand Canal opened up and linked the area to other centers of trade. The Song dynasty helped make Hangzhou famous when the imperial family moved there in the 12th Century. With its inviting views and outstanding scenery, the area soon became popular with artists, poets and painters seeking inspiration in this little bit of paradise.
Tour Itinerary: Day 1: Shanghai/ Hangzhou. Met at Shanghai Railway Station by your guide at 9:00am and take a morning train to Hangzhou. Lunch in local restaurant. Cruise on the West Lake, stroll at Fish and Flower Harbour Park, visit a traditional Chinese medicine museum. Check in Cultural Plaza Hotel or similar. Free the rest of time. Includes: (L). Day 2: Hangzhou/ Shanghai. Pay a visit to Lingyin Temple, one of the 10 most celebrated Buddhist monasteries in China. Then visit a tea farm, talk to local farmers and have lunch in a farmer's home. Transferred to Hangzhou Railway Station and take an afternoon train back to Shanghai. Service ends upon arrival at the station. Includes: (B), (L).
