Tour Itinerary:
Days 1-3: Cape Town - 3 nights. On arrival at Cape Town International Airport, collect your 1300cc car from our depot and depart immediately for your first apartment on the foothills of Table Mountain. This spacious one bedroom apartment is the ideal base from which to explore the delights this international destination has to offer.
You may want to use the complimentary tickets that M17406 offers for the Two Oceans Aquarium in the V&A Waterfront and the boat-based Seal Island safari departing from Hout Bay. Board basis is Bed & Breakfast.
Days 4-6: Knysna - 3 nights. After a sumptuous breakfast in Cape Town, you travel eastwards to Knysna, the epicenter of the Garden Route. En route there are places of interest we recommend you stop and visit, Albertinia being one of them where you are able to view the world-famous aloe factory with the opportunity to purchase these renowned herbal products. A lunch time stop over at Mossel Bay where you can visit the Vasco Da Gama museum (first European to round the Cape of Good Hope in 1488) discover the mystery of the "Post Office Tree", or see model sailing galleons being built. In Knysna you stay in an upmarket guest house with magnificent panoramic views across the Knysna Lagoon, with all the great attractions of this quaint little town only a stone’s throw away.
You will have plenty of time to explore the beautiful areas in and around Knysna - why not take a cruise on the famous lagoon out to The Heads or a romantic evening dinner on our paddle steamer. Enjoy a ride on the old steam train to George; this adventure will take you through pristine forests and golden beaches, traversing lagoons and rivers. Try one of the delightful restaurants in town for dinner and enjoy some pampering the real South African way.
M17406 offers two complimentary entry tickets for a guide tour of Monkeyland. Board basis is Bed & Breakfast.
Day 7: Oudtshoorn - 1 night. Departing Knysna after breakfast for the two-hour journey which will take you up and over the spectacular Outeniqua Pass, climbing 2100 feet in 5 miles. The balance of the day can be spent just north of Oudtshoorn where you can visit the Cango Cheetah & Crocodile ranch, then onto the Cango Ostrich farm where a light lunch can be enjoyed. A tour and a ride on an Ostrich can be enjoyed before visiting the Cango caves. You return south to town where you stay in a historic Ostrich Palace renovated to its former glory and within walking distance to some of the best restaurants in town. The rich culture of the town is reflected in its many museums and national monuments offering fascinating and authentic glimpses into life in a bygone era. Board basis is Bed & Breakfast.
Days 8-9: Stellenbosch - 2 nights. From Oudtshoorn we recommend taking the scenic inland Route 62 to Stellenbosch. Known as the wine capital of South Africa. You will have the opportunity to visit some of these farms, where you may choose to go on a tour of the vineyards and watch the fascinating wine making process. Wine tasting and purchases are encouraged. Purchases can be shipped directly back home. Stellenbosch is the second oldest town in South Africa so there are many historical sites that are very interesting to visit. The famous Stellenbosch University is well known for training of the medical profession. Board basis is Bed & Breakfast.
Day 10: You travel the 50km to Cape Town for some last minute shopping before meet your flight home.
