The Cotahuasi canyon is one of our favorite places in Peru, because our knowledge about this region make us the first biking tour company on the deepest canyon in the World, where is possible to do nice easy, medium and extreme cross country - uphill and downhill mountain biking observing the typical villages, crossing old hanging bridges, from 3 up to 7 day of cross country from the highlands to the pacific ocean, discovering abandoned pre-Inca remains, riding along Inca steps and single trucks between green valleys. To do any of our biking trips to this canyon, always we use our private four wheel drive or some times is possible to connect with public bus services available.

If you decide to go to the Cotahuasi canyon, don’t be sure to get a comfortable bus roads or lodgings, because in this regions is just beginning in the tourism, what we can promise you is a nice and unforgettable experience away from your home. To do this adventurous mountain bike tour from the Andes to the pacific sea is necessary to be in really good physical condition and experience riding along the single trucks.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Arequipa - Majes Valley - Chuquibamba - Cotahuasi.

Day 2: Cotahuasi - Puica - Alca - Tomepampa - Cotahuasi.

Day 3: Cotahuasi - Sipia Waterfall - Arequipa.

* Aluminum Frame (Trek/GT/Bianchi/Cannondale). Different size 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 inches
* Front Air Shock (Rock Shox – SR Suntour – RST 110mm travel). Excellent for long tracks, downhill and climb in XC conditions.
* Disc Brakes (Shimano Deore). Stainless Steel/Aluminum. The lock ring mounting system enhances precision and rigidity while improving braking efficiency.
* Stem (Zoom 10 Degree). Oversized multifunctional adjustable for downhill and XC.
* Headsets (Cane Creek). Integrated cartridge thread less headset.
* Saddles (Specialized). Hybrid saddle with gel cover and complete comfortable.
* Seatpost (Easton). Full Aluminum with AL-2014 head.
* Rim (Mavic). Light and strong for MTB, XC and adapted for V-Brake and disc brake.

Rain Season: December to March. Some days are with blue sky permitting to cycle this zone.

Best Time for Cycle: After rain season (April to June) the mountains are completely covered with snow and the slops are cover with new vegetation making more nice for pictures.

Advice for Bikers: Normal physical conditions and summer clothes, bikers require good acclimatization over 3600m. One day before all the bikers will have meeting with the mountain bike guide at our office or in the hotel, who will give a briefing about this bike trip and also you can check the quality of bikes and gear will be used on this trip.

What You Need to Bring/Carry:

- Small backpack
- Rain jacket or poncho (December - March)
- Tennis shoes
- One complete change of clothing
- Water bottle and purification tablets (Micropur are recommended and can be bought in local pharmacies in Arequipa/Peru)
- Flashlight and batteries
- Hat or cap to protect you from the sun
- Sun block (sun protection cream)
- Insect repellent
- Toiletries, towel and toilet paper
- Selection of small snacks, chocolate, dried fruit, biscuits etc,
- Camera, plenty of film and spare batteries
- Sunglasses
- Swimsuit (for the hot springs in the Cotahuasi canyon)
- Extra money (soles)
