Tour Itinerary:
Day 1, Feb 4th: Lhasa. Upon your arrival at Gonggar Airport or Tibet Railway Station, your guide will meet and transfer you to the hotel at Lhasa city. Rest and acclimatize in the hotel. Overnight in Lhasa.
Day 2, Feb 5th: Potala Palace. Begin the sightseeing with Potala Palace which is more than 117 meters (384 feet) in height and 360 meters (1180 feet) in width. There are 13 floors. Potala is composed of White Palace which is for secular use and Red Palace for religious use. After lunch, we will have a visit of Local Tibetans home at 15:00. A welcoming ceremony (including Chemaf, highland barley wine and kha-btags) will be held in state on the very edge of the village.
At 15:30 introduce members to the reception families; make especial traditional food-Guthuk with Tibetan friends. At 19:00 have dinner together with Tibetan friends and then see the New Year activity which is called driving away the ghost. Here you can taste the unsophisticated zealous way of treating guest and the traditional festival. Overnight in Lhasa. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 3, Feb 6th: Chamji Temple, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Street. This morning you will visit Chamji Temple, the God of Wealth Temple in Tibet. Then visit Jokhang Temple, which had a 1350-years history and is the oldest temple in Lhasa. The quadrangle streets surrounding Jokhang Temple is the Barkhor Street - Lhasa's most interesting pilgrimage circuit. It is not only the spiritual heart of Lhasa but also the main commercial district for Tibetans in the Old Town.
Around 18:00, dinner time (wine and soft drinks provided). Get together for the coming of the New Year. Then go back to your hotel to watch Spring Festival Gala on CCTV at 20:00. At 23:40, we will make firework to celebrate the New Year. Overnight in Lhasa. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 4, Feb 7th: Journey of pilgrimage.Drepong Monastery, Sera Monastery. Drepong Monastery is the residence for the 1st to 5th Dalai Lamas. There are thousands of Cultural relics stored in it.
Sera Monastery is a representative temple for Huang sect. You can find lots of Buddhist sutras, Buddhist instruments, Cassocks, gold and silver articles in this temple. Overnight in Lhasa. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 5, Feb 8th: Journey of marvel. Lhasa, Gongbo gyamda, Basum Lake, Nyingchi. Come along the eastern Niyang River and go through Mila Mountain Pass 5013 m above sea level. Visit Basum Lake, the holly lake for Hong Sect. With gulls and white cranes floating leisurely on the tranquil water, the lake looks like a lunate moon embedded in the mountains and valleys. Then Nyingchi will bring a real marvelous view by its stunning landscape to feast your eyes. Overnight in Bayi. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 6, Feb 9th: Journey of Heaven. Bayi Town, Lulang Forest, Namjagbarwa, Yarlung-Tsangpo River, Bayi Town. Go through Segrila Pass 4702 m above sea level and have a bird view of Namjagbarwa, the most beautiful peak by China National Geographic. Then go through Lulang which is covered by forest and snow. After that, Drive to Tsedang on the Yarlung-Tsangpo river junction. Overnight in Bayi Town. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 7, Feb 10th: Journey of Nature. Nyingchi, Huge Cypress, Kadin Valley, Songduo, Bunger Tong Grassland, Mila Mountain, Lhasa. In the morning, visit the King of Cypress with 2500-year history in linzhi. The Kadin Valley, a waterfall named Tianfo will show you how sweet the water is in Nyching. At last Bunger Tong Grassland dotted with flocks and herds and characteristic villages in Zang style. Overnight in Lhasa. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 8, Feb 11th: Journey of Extreme. Lhasa, Yamdrok Tso Lake, Quxu, China Nepal Friendship Highway, Tashilumpo, Shigaste. Start for Yamdrok Tso Lake. It is 4441m above sea level, 250 km long and 638 square km and renowned as Holly Lake in Heaven by the local. Then go back to Quxu Bridge and arrive at the important town named Shigaste. Visit Tashilumpo in which there's the statue of Buddha Qingba, the biggest copper statue all over the world. Overnight in Shigaste. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 9, Feb 12th: Journey of Focus. Shigaste, Gyantse, Kumbum Monastery, Zongshan Emplacement, Pala, Lhasa. Visit Kumbum Monastery, which is famous for its fine mural paintings and sculptures. Zongshan Emplacement, the site where former Chinese army fired with the English invaders.
Pala Farmland which was used to belong to the slave-owner family of Pala. The well-kept Farmland can bring the family luxurious life back to your eyes. This site deserves a quick visit of 30 minutes. Then you can leave the small town of Gyantse. Go back to Lhasa. Overnight in Lhasa. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 10, Feb 13th: Departure. After Breakfast, check out and say goodbye to this holly place.
