The trek around the Huayhuash is one of the most spectacular mountain circuits in the world. It is a trek for the true walking enthusiast, its considerable physical demands rewarded with a mountain splendor which can have few equals. Although a small range, the Huayhuash is richly glaciated, steep and dramatic, as well as being home to Peru’s second highest peak, Yerupaja, at 6634, offering you stunning panoramas of glaciers, lakes and mighty ice-clad mountains.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Lima – Huaraz (3090m).
Day 2: Acclimatization day.
Day 3: Acclimatization day.
Day 4: Huaraz – Llamac (3300m).
Day 5: Llamac – Matacancha (4150m).
Day 6: Matacancha – Mitucocha lake (4200m).
Day 7: Mitucocha Lake – Carhuacocha Lake (4100m).
Day 8: Rest day or Visit Suila Lake
Day 9: Carhuacocha Lake – Huayhuash (4350m).
Day 10: Huayhuash – Viconga (4500m).
Day 11: Viconga – Huanacpatay (4300m).
Day 12: Huanacpatay – Calinca (4100m).
Day 13: Visit Siula Grande base camp.
Day 14: Calinca – Huatiac (4400).
Day 15: Huatiac – Gashpapampa (4450m).
Day 16: Gashpapampa – Jahuacocha lake (4050m)
Day 17: Rest day or Visit Solteracocha Lake & Cerro Amarillo hill.
Day 18: Jahuacocha lake – Llamac – Huaraz.
Day 19: Huaraz – Lima.

The rest of the luggage is transported by porters, donkeys or a support vehicle. We find that while on trek & climb, a certain level of comfort is appreciated.
