Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Narobi. Met on arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International airport and transferred to Nairobi Serena hotel. Lunch and dinner on own arrangements. Overnight at Nairobi Serena hotel – Bed & Breakfast basis.
Day 2: Nairobi – Samburu National Reserve. Buffet breakfast at Nairobi Serena hotel. 7h00 - Morning drive to Samburu game reserve. This drive will take you through the central highlands where you will be able to see large scale coffee, flower and pineapple farming. You will stop briefly at the Equator line for a short demonstration. 13h00 - Lunch at Samburu Serena Lodge. 16h00 - Afternoon game viewing drive in this game reserve in search of wildlife. Dinner and overnight at Samburu Serena Lodge.
Day 3: Samburu National Reserve. Whole day spent in Samburu Game reserve with morning and afternoon game drives. This semi arid countryside is a bird lover's paradise. The game reserve is also unique as it is home to some wildlife which can only be found here. These are the gerenuk, reticulated giraffe and the gravy's zebra. Other wild animals including the 'big five' are also found here. Overnight at Samburu Serena Lodge. All meals at lodge.
Day 4: Samburu National Reserve – Mount Kenya. 7h00 - Breakfast at the lodge. 8h00 - Morning drive to the Mt.Kenya national park. 12h30 - Lunch at the Serena Mountain Lodge. The only ‘tree hotel’ ever to be built on the slopes of Kenya’s legendary Mount Kenya, Mountain Lodge offers a matchless game viewing opportunity whilst combining a glorious panorama of mountain vistas with the primordial splendors of an ancient rainforest.
Floating 2,195 m high on the flanks of Kenya’s highest mountain and secreted deep within her largest forest reserve, the lodge offers not only the champagne-clarity of mountain air, the tranquility of the forest and a colorful cavalcade of wildlife but also the chance of scaling the icy peaks of Africa’s second-highest mountain.
Guests can awake to the trumpeting of elephant, fall asleep to the symphony of the African night or sit in stillness and observe the fascinating interplay of the animals as they arrive to drink, bathe, spar and forage around the water hole. Finally, they can venture down to the secret viewing hide by the water’s edge and experience the awesome thrill of being only meters away from some of the most massive beasts on earth. Dinner and overnight at the Serena Mountain Lodge.
Day 5: Mount Kenya - Lake Nakuru National Park. 7h00 - Buffet breakfast at the Serena Mountain Lodge. 8h00 - Drive to Lake Nakuru National Park in the Great Rift Valley. This drive takes you via the Thompson falls a 73 m deep plunge where you will have a stopover. 12h30 - Lunch at Lake Nakuru Lodge. 16h00 - Afternoon game viewing drive in the park. The Lake Nakuru National Park is world famous for the pink flamingos which number thousands upon thousands. The rare black rhino, the white rhino and many other wild animals can also be found here. There is a very high chance of seeing the nocturnal and very elusive leopard. Dinner and overnight at Lake Nakuru Lodge.
Day 6: Lake Nakuru - Maasai Mara National Reserve. 7h00 - Breakfast at Lake Nakuru Lodge. 8h00 - Morning drive to the Masai Mara Game Reserve, Kenya’s finest and best known game reserve. 12h30 - Lunch at Keekorok Lodge in Masai Mara. After lunch, have a game drive en-route to Mara Serena Lodge. The greatest attraction in the Mara is watching the animals in their natural element; a lion's roar, a cheetah making a kill, and the big elephant herds are all very fascinating events. You will also meet the Masai who are the inhabitants of this reserve and are a proud and largely aloof tribe who have held on to their customs and traditions for hundreds of years. 18h00 - Arrive at Mara Serena lodge to a warm welcome. Dinner and overnight at Mara Serena Lodge.
Day 7: Masai Mara National Reserve. Another day spent in the Mara with morning and afternoon game viewing drive in the rolling plains, woodland and rivers that make up the Mara. There are very high chances of seeing the 'big five'. Overnight at Mara Serena Lodge. All meals at Lodge
Day 8: Masai Mara – Nairobi - Depart. 7h00 - Breakfast at Mara Serena Lodge. 8h00 - Drive out of the Mara headed for Nairobi, game viewing drive. As you climb the eastern wall of the Great Rift Valley, your drive guide will stop at strategic viewpoints for photography. 13h00 - Lunch on own arrangements on arrival in Nairobi. After lunch we will transfer you to the airport for your final departure flight or you could have a beach holiday at the coastal town of Mombasa at an extra cost.
