Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Arequipa - Pampas Cañahuas Reserve - Patapampa Viewpoint - Chivay - Yanque - Lary. At 6am pick up form the hotel and directly transfer to the Colca canyon by our private van or public (according your request) driving on the left side of Chachani mountain (6070m) continue going up to 4400m, is a Natural Reserve of Salinas and Aguada Blanca, is the nature habitat for the Vicuñas, one of South American camelidos, groups of Llamas, Alpacas, small lagoons (Bofedales), highlands views (Pata Pampa 4850m), snow caps and volcanoes, will stop every place to get short break getting pictures from all each place you like.

At 10am we will arrive to Yanque town, located over 3450m there you will meet the horses and the guide will give some instructions about the horse and rider them. Start our horseback riding tour in the second deepest canyon in the world. Half way stop for short rest and camp snack (Lunch) on the middle of the terraces. We ride on the right bank of the Colca River, continue through remote villages, colonial churches, and mountainous range and nice country. After four hours will arrival to Lary (3200m) and camping near of the village and next to the river. Dinner accompanied by amusing starry deep sky.

Day 2: Lary – Pinchillo – Condor Cross Viewpoint – Chivay Hot Spring – Arequipa. Today you will walk up at 5am to have country breakfast and them continue riding the horses up to Pinchollo (3550m) and from there keep going on the left bank of the canyon. At 10/11am arrival to the Condor cross viewpoint and to appreciate the magnificent of this Andean bird dominating the mountains of this part of Cordillera de los Andes. After 1 hour at the lookout transfer to Chivay by our private van or public bus. Visit the hot spring of the La Calera. At 2pm lunch in Chivay and then return to Arequipa, the trip ends in your hotel between 5 to 7pm.

Tip: We strongly recommend to book with private van (Private VIP service) to have more time and the program could be more flexible and you can enjoying much more each place of the canyon. If you book a backpacker service (Join a group) the service will be which public bus service, travel with private bus means to risk for less time in the hot spring or on the second to ride less distance.

- Sleeping bag (can be hired in our office of Arequipa US$5 per day) only if you want to make camping

What You Need to Bring/Carry:

- Day backpack if you take private VIP service, you can put your staff in the vehicle
- Sleeping bag (can be hired from our office for US$5 per day) only if you like to camp on the first or second day
- Rain jacket or poncho (December - April)
- Strong comfortable and waterproof footwear
- One complete change of clothing
- Sweater and jacket (something warm)
- Bottle of water and purification tablets (Micropur are recommended and can be bought in local pharmacies in Arequipa)
- Flashlight and batteries
- Hat or cap to protect you from the sun
- Sun block (sun protection cream)
- Toiletries, towel and toilet paper
- Selection of small snacks, chocolate, dried fruit, biscuits, etc
- Camera, plenty of film and spare batteries
- Sunglasses
- Extra money (soles) for tipping or to buy some souvenirs

* You will receive a basic course to ride Paso horses in the safety of our corral (beginners)
* We strongly recommend taking the private VIP service and you will receive the supporting of the vehicle in case you don’t want to ride any more
* Private VIP service is recommended because the program on the first and last day will be more flexible according your request
*Backpacker service is join a group of tourist on the first and last day, you will have limits to stop or to fellow your request
* To participate on this tour we suggest having little experience riding long time (5-6 hours)
* The horses are great and well cared and they are very quiet and peaceful and friendly animals

People interesting to take this tour need to know ride horse on the up and downhill, serpentine trails, jump over the water channels and understand the horses feeling.
