Namibia or Botswana? How do you choose? You don't! From the bushman to abundant African wildlife is all included in this single safari. Experience true Africa in this adventure safari! We are locked in between two beautiful deserts of which we are very proud: the Namib to the west and the Kalahari to the east. However, the entire country does not consist of desert alone. We have some of the most beautiful sub-tropical regions imaginable, and these are teeming with wildlife. Some of the animals might be encountered elsewhere in Namibia as well, but others are to be found nowhere else but in this region. Some of these include Buffalo, Hippo, Lechwe, Sable antelope, Roan antelope and Crocodile. This safari is guaranteed to run even with a booking of only two guests - our minimum requirement. It will start at Namibia's International airport in Windhoek, and end there again after 14 days and 13 nights.
Your Itinerary:
Day 1: Meet your host at Namibia's International airport and transfer to Windhoek for a short rest after your long flight. A quick tour of Windhoek's sights and sounds can be arranged, should you feel up to it.
Day 2: After breakfast, refreshed and rested, start off on the first leg of your safari. On the first day of your safari - outside the City - you may already encounter from the smallest antelope in Namibia - the Damara Dik-dik - to the largest antelope in the world - the Eland - on un-guided nature walks.
Day 3: Today your safari will allow you to experience what it's like to be in a remote area where wildlife still roams free under the unpolluted skies of Africa. A cultural experience of actively spending a night out with the Ju/’hoansi (A Bushman / San tribe) and participating in their hunts, food gathering and making of bow and arrows plus other utensils and adornments.
Day 4: The Ju/’hoansi will provide you with bow, arrows, digging stick and collecting skin (which you may buy if you want) and see what nature offers us. Take or leave your sleeping bag, but don’t forget to take along at least 5 L of water and a hat!
Day 5: Leaving the Bushman - albeit reluctantly - you enter the water wonderland of the Kavango, en-route to the Caprivi. On arrival you should have time to relax, freshen up and explore your immediate surroundings before embarking on a boat cruise down the Kavango River.
Day 6: A reasonably long drive today as you penetrate the Caprivi Strip, right into the eastern Caprivi. Here you will find a remarkably luxurious lodge, made even more unbelievable, considering where you are. Enjoy a very peaceful and quiet night's rest.
Day 7: Transfer from your lodge by boat after breakfast, right into Botswana and your Botswana camp for the next two nights.
Days 8 - 9: Here, on the banks of the Kwando river, you may combine the unspoilt wilderness areas of Namibia and Botswana - two of Southern Africa's most remote and exclusive safari destinations. Experience rewarding Game viewing in open 4X4 vehicles and exciting night drives.
Day 10: Return to Namibia by boat again - great wildlife viewing opportunities en-route! Back at your lodge in Namibia, beneath a canopy of shady Jackalberry, Mahogany and Mangosteen trees, take a refreshing dip in the swimming pool. Enjoy river excursions, excellent birding, guided wilderness walks and nature drives, topped with superb cuisine.
Day 11: To shorten the long distance between the eastern Caprivi and central Namibia, stop over at a Kavango lodge for the night. Enjoy a final sunset, raft cruise along the Kavango River before leaving this water- rich region of Namibia. A day visit to a nearby Game Reserve will reveal some of the animals you might not have encountered thus far.
Day 12: As you leave the Kavango/Caprivi region, a whole new world awaits you. Your next destination is a Safari Lodge in a true African savanna environment. You might wish to end your day with a sunset wildlife viewing drive.
Day 13: A leisurely drive back to Windhoek, to be welcomed into your spacious room inside an early nineteenth century German castle. Dine with the lights of Windhoek at your feet while viewing the setting sun being invited into the folds of the distant Khomas Hochland on the horizon. Retire in luxury on your 13th day of an African Adventure.
Day 14: Subject to flight departure time, you may have the entire morning to browse the central business district of Windhoek. Move around the mixture of modern and German-colonial architecture; street markets; coffee bars and a variety of curio- and souvenir shops. Transfer to Namibia's International airport to arrive in time for your departure flight.
