This safari is only possible with a minimum booking of two Guests. Although not bound by any particular season, the months of December to January can be uncomfortably hot - height of the Namibian summer! On the other hand, the Kunene River - one of your "ports of call" - offers not only exhilarating activities, but an opportunity to cool down, besides the swimming pool. The activities mentioned, would include canoeing and white water rafting. If a "best" time must be singled out, weather- wise, it will probably be from February to mid- July. However, this safari is available throughout the year - whenever it suits you. Due to the fact that the duration of this safari is only ten days, no camping will be included, only full accommodation. This will ensure that you could spend every possible minute enjoying the adventure and experience that this safari has to offer. All meals and activities are included in the safari price.
Your Itinerary:
Day 1: Meet your host at Namibia’s International airport. Transfer to Windhoek for a short tour of its sights and sounds before settling into a comfortable 3-star Hotel, Business Class. Remainder of the afternoon/evening at own leisure until dinner. Relax from the long flight and acclimatize to Namibia.
Day 2: As the landscape changes from thorn bush to Mopane shrubs, stop-over for lunch en-route. Your first overnight stop is at a Cheetah conservation farm. An opportunity to get some real close-up photographs of these big cats of Africa - plus some personal inter-action with a few semi-tame Cheetahs.
Day 3: A relatively long haul today as you penetrate deep into the wilderness area of Kaokoland – home to the ochre-red Ova-Himba - towards the only town of the Region.
Day 4: After an early breakfast, join an excursion to visit the Epupa Waterfall; the sacred burial grounds and village of the Ova- Himba. The Ova-Himba is the last African tribe of nomadic pasturalists, totally divorced from western lifestyles.
Day 5: Drive right up to the Kunene River, the border between Namibia and Angola. End your day with a sundowners boat cruise on the Kunene River.
Day 6: Today you are own leisure to either partake in some adrenalin-activity, such as white water rafting, canoeing, or a guided trip on quad bikes along the Kunene River.
Day 7: Return towards the south, but before leaving the Kaokoveld, visit one of the most enchanting wilderness lodges in the area. A venue which boasts the largest concentration of endemic and semi-endemic bird species found in Namibia. After dinner, join a night Game viewing drive to seek out the nocturnal animals of Africa.
Day 8: Start your day with one of the most informative guided hikes available; cool off in a splash pool, or view wildlife from an elevated hide and on a Game drive. Excellent opportunity for possible sighting of the desert Elephants and the latest resident addition - a pride of nine Lions that had recently moved in and decided to make this concession area their home.
Day 9: Unfortunately, all good things must also come to an end and today you have to return to Windhoek. Not to make the return to civilization too harsh, overnight at a small Game Lodge on the outskirts of Windhoek. End your day with a scenic drive for a final glimpse of our Namibian sunset on this, your last night in Namibia, Africa.
Day 10: Subject to flight departure time, you may have all morning to enjoy nature walks on the premises, or simply relax on a pool chair, viewing wildlife at the waterhole. Transfer to Namibia’s International airport to arrive in time for your departure flight.
