During your entire safari you will be accommodated in some of the very best establishments and visit a combination of venues both in civilization and out in the wilderness. Places of great interest and places of indescribable beauty; treasures of Nature and natural phenomena to sooth body and soul.
From the comical antics of the Cape Fur Seal, through African wildlife - even nocturnal creatures - to natural, sulfur-free hot springs. Accommodation from luxury establishments such as 4-star Hotels to tented mountain camps.
End your luxury African safari with the last night in an early 19th century, German castle. Dine with the lights of Windhoek at your feet, while viewing the setting sun being invited into the folds of the distant Khomas Hochland on the horizon. An itinerary designed with you, the guest, in mind.
Your Itinerary:
Day 1: Meet your host at Namibia's International airport and transfer to Windhoek for a short tour of its sights and sounds, before settling into a comfortable 4-star Hotel. (On a Thursday for this itinerary, or on a Tuesday for a reverse itinerary). Relax from your flight and acclimatize to Namibia. Afternoon and evening at own leisure until dinner.
Day 2: Sufficient time after breakfast to browse the coffee shops, street vendors and German-styled stores in the Central Business District. Around midday, board our luxury train, The Desert Express, for an overnight journey to the Atlantic coast. Dinner and breakfast on the train.
Day 3: Be met by your host again in Swakopmund around 10:30, just in time for a mid-morning tea/coffee break on a pavement Café before settling into an old railway station building, converted into a luxury 4-star Hotel. Afternoon and evening at own leisure.
Day 4: Most of the day at own leisure to browse the German-colonial shops and architecture; laze around on the beach or, for those who are interested, treasures of the earth in Swakopmund also include the largest mineral crystal cluster ever unearthed to date - it towers above you!. In addition, you will board a light aircraft for a pleasure flight across Damaraland and the Brandberg to the Ugab River mouth, and back to Swakopmund along the notorious Skeleton Coast of Namibia.
Day 5: Morning up till lunch time, enjoy a chartered Catamaran cruise to meet some of the wild Seals and Dolphins along our coast. (Includes sparkling wine, Namibian oysters, snacks and drinks). The afternoon and evening at own leisure for some shopping or an activity of your choice.
Day 6: Today, after breakfast, travel on a salt-surfaced road along the coast towards one of the larger Cape Fur Seal colonies on the Skeleton Coast. Join the local, resident guide and discover a petrified salt lagoon (400 years old) where you can dig and see the salt crystallization which formed, and experience the process of salt mining. En-route to your destination, you will pass along one of the richest Lichen stretches of the Namib, where all six species of Lichen discovered in Namibia, are represented. Return to a quaint seaside lodge, overlooking a tranquil bay.
Day 7: Return to the Interior via an old, restored mining town. This is the gateway to one of the last true Wilderness areas in Africa - Damaraland! Arrive at a tented mountain lodge in time for lunch and a short rest. This venue offers a 360° view of Damaraland. With any luck, you may even encounter the elusive desert Elephants on a nature drive.
Day 8: Start your day with a short but pleasant hike through the Twyfelfontein Mountains, while viewing one of the largest concentrations of ancient Petroglyphs (rock engravings). Having reached the half way mark on your safari, move further north into the Kaokoveld where you will be welcomed by excellent hosts at a remarkable, luxury accommodation establishment. A late afternoon Game viewing drive could result in some very exciting sightings!
Day 9: This morning you will experience one of the most informative guided hikes known. During the course of the day, there will be more Game viewing drives and in between you may relax around a sparkling swimming pool or wallow in a natural, sulfur-free hot spring pool. Opportunity for wellness therapies such as muscle massage and Reflexology also available. (Optional choice for own account).
Day 10: Depart from the Kaokoveld today - albeit reluctantly - and move further north towards the Etosha National Park area. Tonight you will have the opportunity to join a night Game viewing drive after dinner, in search of the nocturnal animals of Namibia.
Day 11: A special treat today as a local, resident guide will escort you for a day trip into the Etosha National Park. Lunch in the Park, and another wildlife viewing drive before returning to the mountain lodge.
Day 12: Even luxury safaris must come to an end, and today you have to start your journey back to Windhoek. To shorten the distance, stop over at a private safari lodge, boasting the widest variety of wildlife outside the boundaries of the Etosha National Park.
Day 13: After breakfast there will be sufficient time for a final wildlife viewing drive. Time to return to Windhoek to an early 19th century German castle. (At least your accommodation will be an experience in itself). Dine with the skyline of Windhoek at your feet. View the setting sun, being invited into the folds of the Khomas Hochland on the horizon, on this, your last night in Namibia, Africa!
Day 14: Subject to flight departure time, you may still have the entire morning at own leisure for those last minute purchases or a cup of tea/coffee. Be transferred to Namibia's International airport to arrive in time for your departure flight.
