That exotic honeymoon - the one you will always remember - is within reach! This luxury Honeymoon - Sir Cupid in Africa - is offered to Honeymoon couples who are interested in Cupid's African Dream, but would possibly prefer to meet the Cupid-in-charge for a more luxurious, most important break-away of their life. If this sounds about right, Sir Cupid in Africa is for you! This African Honeymoon safari will depart from Windhoek and will end again in Windhoek, 10 days later. Due to the luxury train journey included, the safari itinerary is dependent on your flight schedules. Thus, it is important that flight tickets and reservations are made before an itinerary can be built around such a schedule.
During the entire Honeymoon you will be accommodated in some of the very best establishments and visit a combination of venues both in civilization and out in the wilderness. Places of interest, places of indescribable beauty; treasures of Nature and natural phenomena to sooth body and soul; see African wildlife in their natural habitat. If you happen to be seafood lovers and/or memory makers? Swakopmund is it! While on this true African experience, why not include a few historic moments in Swakopmund? Here you may also browse German-colonial architecture and shops; experience the utter desolation of the Moon landscape, or stand in awe and respect next to proof of the oldest living plant specimens on earth - the Welwitschia mirabilis. End your African Honeymoon with the last night in a romantic, early 19th century, German castle. Dine with the lights of Windhoek at your feet, while viewing the setting sun being invited into the folds of the distant Khomas Hochland on the horizon.
Your Itinerary:
Day 1: Meet your host at Namibia's International airport. Transfer to Windhoek for a quick tour of its "sights and sounds" before settling into a 4-star Hotel.
Day 2: Entire morning at own leisure to explore the central business district and street markets in Windhoek. Arrive at Windhoek's railway station in time to board Namibia's luxury train - the Desert Express - for an unforgettable journey.
Day 3: Be welcomed at Swakopmund station by your host and stop-over at a coffee shop for some mid-morning tea/coffee before transferring to an old Railway station, converted into a luxury, 4-star Hotel. Entire rest of the day at own leisure to view German-colonial architecture; visit museums; browse the shops and stores; view the largest mineral crystal cluster ever unearthed to date, or simply relax on the beach or enjoy a siesta.
Day 4: Entire day at own leisure, or optional extra as follows:
An early breakfast before boarding a light aircraft for a day excursion over the Brandberg (highest mountain peak in Namibia), up to Opuwo where you will meet the ochre-colored Ova-Himba nomads - and fly back along the notorious Skeleton Coast of Namibia.
Day 5: Traveling via the coastal town of Walvis Bay, and traversing the endless gravel plains of the central Namib, arrive at your Moroccan-styled tented camp in time to freshen up and have dinner, served alfresco on a terrace, with paraffin/kerosene lamps or candles lit after sunset. Dine, while viewing desert wildlife quenching their thirst at a floodlit waterhole.
Day 6: Early start, to drive out to Sossusvlei where you may view, and climb, some of the highest sand dunes in the world. Brunch under age-old Camelthorn trees before returning to your lodge. Late afternoon, explore the geologically, historic Sesriem gorge.
Day 7: Optional extra: In the cool, pre-dawn air, ascend in a hot-air balloon and silently drift high above the immensity of the Namib Desert. From this exclusive vantage point, the rising sun paints an endless vista of shadow and light over an ocean of sand dunes and mountains. After about an hour of silently riding the air, descend and celebrate this unique event with a full champagne breakfast in the middle of the desert. Flight certificates will be presented before the 4 X 4 drive back to the lodge. Continue further into the southern Namib and onto one of the largest private nature reserves in Africa.
Day 8: Entire day to "lose yourself" in this vast wilderness. This is not simply a "place", but a unique experience.
Day 9: After breakfast, and maybe finishing the last few exposures on that film, depart on a leisurely journey back to Windhoek. Arrive mid- to late afternoon and settle into an early 19th century, German castle. Dine with the skyline of Windhoek at your feet, while viewing the setting sun, being invited into the folds of the distant Khomas Hochland on the horizon. Relax, and enjoy this, your last night in Namibia, Africa!
Day 10: Subject to flight departure time, the entire morning for a last browse around the central business district of the City. Transfer to Namibia's International airport to arrive in time for your departure flight.
