Before you start creating figments in your imagination and seeing yourself crawling into a two-man tent on the ground, after having arrived in a lop-sided, overcrowded bus or truck: This is a non-camping, accommodated safari collection. All we did was: include all the wonders and places of interest; exclude most of the price-inflated lodges, bush camps and hotels in favor of more reasonably priced, clean and comfortable, owner-run - where possible - accommodation establishments. We are flexible and guarantee that Any of these itineraries could be customized to our guests' personal interests and preferences. The only requirement being, a booking of no less than two guests, and no more than six guests per vehicle and host. (More will require a second host and vehicle).
Your Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrive at Namibia's International airport where your host and transport will meet you. Transfer to Windhoek for a quick tour of its sights and sounds before settling into a comfortable B and B facility on the outskirts of Windhoek. Relax after the long flight and acclimatize to Namibia.
Day 2: A leisurely breakfast before heading south. Traveling along the perimeter of Namibia's central highlands, you will make a pit-stop as you reach the edge of the escarpment. Breathe the fresh air of the mountains as an endless vista of the Namib desert unfolds at your feet, while enjoying a picnic lunch. Descend into the desert towards a desert camp for your first night in the Namib desert.
Day 3: An early start to enter the valley leading to Sossusvlei and the highest sand dunes in the world. Experience a sea of dunes and mountains that never seem to end. Return to the lodge for a quick stop, before continuing towards a desert nature camp in the southern Namib as your next venue.
Day 4: Entire day at leisure at this nature camp where you will join a combination mountain drive and guided hike through these wide open spaces.
Day 5: A leisurely breakfast before heading east towards a lodging in the central Kalahari desert. Time to find your bearings, relax and freshen up, then end your day with a scenic drive through this section of the Kalahari desert.
Day 6: Although moving further north today, you shall continue within the Kalahari desert to reach your next lodging. A Game and guest farm in the eastern Kalahari. Meet the local San or Bushman as they welcome you in dance.
Day 7: Feel the crisp morning air as you join a Bushman tracker for a short, but pleasant, walk through the desert. Observe these dwarf-like, friendly people's knowledge and skills of survival in the Kalahari.
Day 8: Still within the Kalahari, your journey today will take you to the transitional zone between the Kalahari desert and the central savanna plains of Namibia. A late afternoon Game drive to acquaint yourself with this region.
Day 9: To shorten the distance to the Etosha National Park, stop over for the night, right in the heart of the African savanna.
Day 10: From the sandy plains and dunes, through grassland savanna you leave behind, to a dry and dusty Etosha National Park. Something new, something different, as you settle into a Bush lodge near to the Park's entrance.
Day 11: An entire day's Game viewing across the length of the Etosha National Park's visitor's area. Arrive at the center camp in time for lunch. Continue towards the western exit and leave the Park before sunset to settle in a safari camp before dinner.
Day 12: Once again a total change of landscape as you enter the last true wilderness area of Africa - the Kaokoveld. At tonight's venue - with a little luck - you have an excellent opportunity to spot and view the unique desert adapted Elephants. Late afternoon and early morning you are treated with a great variety of sight and sound from the local bird life.
Day 13: A relatively long drive to reach the upper areas of Kaokoland, on the banks of the Kunene River - the very northern end of Namibia's border! En-route you will pass through the only town in the entire area. Here you are sure to meet up with some of the local, ochre-colored Ova-Himba people. Your venue tonight is a tranquil piece of African paradise, welcoming you on a silent and peaceful sundowners cruise down the Kunene River.
Day 14: Besides the serene setting of this beautiful riverine environment, those who dare can partake of some white-water rafting and many other pleasurable activities such as canoeing, quad-biking, hikes or visit a Himba village.
Day 15: Return all the way to the southernmost border of this wilderness area on your way back south, via a slightly more western route through this wilderness, for a well deserved rest in the restored ruins of an old German Fort - used as an outpost during the German-colonial era.
Day 16: Today you enter Damaraland and its rugged landscapes, often referred to as Landscapes of the Soul. En-route, visit the remains of the Petrified Forest before reaching a Damaraland rest camp for a good night's rest after a sunset drive within this pristine wilderness.
Day 17: Start your day with an informative guided walk, before joining a local guide on a short but pleasant hike through the myriad ancient Petroglyphs (rock engravings). See nature's artist at work in the miniature valley of the Organ Pipes; theorize on the origin of the Burnt Mountain and return to camp.
Day 18: Another relatively long drive back into "civilization" today. En-route, pass the highest mountain peak in Namibia, the Brandberg. Visit one of the larger Cape fur seal colonies en-route to your coastal accommodation.
Day 19: Entire day at own leisure in Namibia's own holiday Riviera, Swakopmund! You are free to join any of the several, privately operated, optional activities. You might also wish to view the largest mineral, crystal cluster ever unearthed to date.
Day 20: No particular rush this morning, sleep late, maybe browse or do some last minute shopping. Enter the Namib en-route to Windhoek, where you may experience the desolation of the "moon landscape" and the amazing Welwitschia mirabilis plant before arriving at a small Game Lodge en-route to the airport by late afternoon. Should you feel up to it, join a sundowners nature drive for a final glimpse of our sunset on this, your last night in Namibia, Africa.
Day 21: Subject to flight departure time, a leisurely morning for nature walks, or simply laze in a pool chair, watching wildlife at the waterhole. Transfer to Namibia's International airport to arrive in time for your departure flight.
