Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Starting in Budapest
Train Budapest 13.15 - 22.50 Baia Mare
Bustransfer to Baia Mare, 30 miles
Arrival late in the evening.

Day 2: Sunday Hoteni village
08.00 - breakfast at the guesthouse
09.00 - no program, getting to know the Pop family and their comfortable guesthouse.
12.00 - walk through the village (2-3 hours) and environment: water,
churches, peasant life.
19.30: - dinner with the family Pop.

Day 3: Monday, Hoteni
08.00 - breakfast at the guesthouse
09.00 - walk through the hills to Ocna Sugatag spa. Taking a healthy bath (for who likes that). Walk back through the fields.
19.00 - dinner with the family Pop.

Day 4: Tuesday, transfer to the next village Poienile Izei (35 km)
08.00 - breakfast at the guesthouse
09.00 - Visit to the city Sighet (museum of the Communist oppression) or Sapinta (the happy cemetery). Then transfer to the next village - Poienile Izei.
19.00 - dinner and overnoght at a traditional peasant family pension.

Day 5: Wednesday, Poienile Izei
08.00 - breakfast at the guesthouse
09.00-walk through the fields to the village Ieud (3-4 hours). Ieud has a well-preserved village structure and two monumental wooden churches with special icons. One of the churches dating from 1364, is the oldest in the region.
19.00 - dinner pension Maria.

Day 6: Thursday, Poienile Izei
08.00 - breakfast at the guesthouse
09.00 - walk (about 3 hours) to the village Botiza (and back for those who want). Botiza is famous for its textile, men make many rugs, and there is a beautiful wooden church.
19.00 - dinner with pension Maria.

Day 7: Friday, travel to the next village, Viseu de Sus
08.00 - breakfast at the guesthouse
09.00 - free morning, at noon departure to Viseu de Sus, visit a traditional ceramist.
19.00 - dinner with the family Birsan, with a view on the lumberjack
railway.

Day 8: Saturday, steamrailday Viseu de Sus
After breakfast we get on the train to the Vasser valley. An experience with a lot of steam, smoke and wood. Afternoon walk back (length of your choice, 2-6 hours) by the valley
19.00 - dinner with the family Birsan.

Day 9: Saturday, walk in the mountains Rodnei
08.00 - breakfast at the guesthouse
09.00 - Minibus to Borsa at the foot of the mountains. After climbing a considerable slope (or chairlift possible) a nice easy walk (2 hours) to to the Prisloppass. Vist the great Hora de Prislop Festival.
19.00 - dinner with the family Birsan.

Day 10: Monday, travel day
09.00 - breakfast at the guesthouse
Transfer to Szek. Fairly long bus tour through beautiful landscapes.

Day 11: Tuesday, Szek
08.00 - breakfast at the guesthouse
Walk Szek - Bontida and back (5 hours). In Szek there will probably be a Hungarian Dance festival going on. You can participate in dance and handicraft classes.
19.00 - dinner pension Szek.

Day 12: Wednesday, Szek
08.00 - breakfast at the guesthouse
09.00 - Walk (4-5 hours) to the village Fizes, where:
19.00 - dinner with the family Sukosi with music and song of Erdöszombattelke village band.
19.00 - dinner pension Szek.

Day 13: Thursday, Szek
08.00 - breakfast at the guesthouse
09.00 - Morning visit Cluj city, followed by transfer to Budapest
Overnight Budapest Hotel Star

Day 14: Friday Budapest, last day free day Budapest.

At times, the program can be changed because of the weather or other unforeseen circumstances. In that case a suitable alternative will be offered.

Notes:
Airfare is not included in the tour price.

Price: 1195 euros excluding travel to Budapest and vice versa.

Including: transport Budapest-Romania vice versa, accommodation, guides (dutch, romanian, english, german, swedish), all meals, music.

Excluding meals in Budapest, beverages, entree fees and railway ticket (about 10 euros).

On the basis of double-room. At request usually a single room possible, then charge 20 euros per night. Vegetarian diet possible.
