Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Thiruvananthapuram - Kovalam. Upon arrival our representative will pick you up and transfer to a beach resort at Kovalam. You will have rest of the day at leisure.
Day 2: Kovalam - Trivandrum - Kovalam. After breakfast we will take you on a city tour of Trivandrum / Thiruvananthapuram. Overnight stay will be at the resort.
Day 3: Kovalam. You will have full day to relax at the wonderful tropical beach and later set out for fishing with local fishermen on traditional kattamaran. You will also have the option of rejuvenating yourself with the much-acclaimed Ayurveda treatment.
Day 4: Alleppey. Drive through green coastal belt and cashew plantations and reach Alleppey - the central hub of Kerala backwaters. Stay in a traditional Kerala house opening right over the Vembanad Lake surrounded by banana plantations. You will have the rest of the day free to relax with the option of herbal oil massage. Also relish the wonderful Kerala cuisine in ethnic way. Overnight stay will be in the houseboat.
Day 5: Alleppey. After breakfast you will spend the most of the day closely watching the backwaters and lifestyle of the local people. You will also visit the coir-making factory, a temple and bathe the elephants at elephant rearing center.
Day 6: Kumarakom. Sail through the backwater canals and reach Kumarakom - an island with a beautiful bird-sanctuary and extremely serene atmosphere. Upon reaching Kumarakom you will transfer to hotel/resort. Overnight stay will be at the hotel/resort.
Day 7: Kumarakom. You will have rest of the day free to relax and explore around. Overnight stay will be at the resort/hotel.
Day 8: Kumarakom - Periyar. Drive through rubber plantations and forested mountains and finally reach the Periyar National Park, one of the wonderful wildlife sanctuaries in India, to see wild elephants. You will have the rest of the day free to explore on own. Overnight stay will be at the hotel at Periyar.
Day 9: Periyar. After breakfast you will visit the Periyar National Park on boat over Periyar Lake where several wild animals congregate at different times. Overnight stay will be at the resort.
Day 10: Periyar - Munnar. After a picturesque drive through jungles, waterfalls and spice plantations, reach the high ranges of Munnar, the highest and the most beautiful tea growing region in the world. You can also visit the tea estate and factory after some leisure.
Day 11: Munnar. After breakfast you will visit the Eravikkulam National Park to see the endangered Nilgiri Tahr and other wildlife. Rest of the day will be free to visit some beautiful spots around Munnar. Overnight stay will be at Munnar.
Day 12: Munnar - Kochi/ Cochin. After breakfast you will drive to Kochi, the cultural and commercial hub of Kerala. Watch a spectacular Kathakali performance along with its make-up process. In the evening you will be free to explore the market in Cochin. Overnight stay will be at hotel in Cochin.
Day 13: Kochi/ Cochin. After breakfast you will go for a day sightseeing at Fort Kochi. You will also visit the Mattancherry palace, Jewish synagogue, Jew town, old spice markets, St. Francis church, Santa Cruz Basilica and Chinese fishing nets. In the evening visit Kalari center to witness Kalaripayattu, the ancient Kerala martial art.
Day 14: Kochi/Cochin Onwards. It is time to say goodbye to Kerala as your Kerala spice tour comes to an end. Our representative will transfer you to railway station/airport for onward journey.
