Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival to Mexico City. Arrival at International airport, tour would be welcome by your professional naturalist guide. Transfer to the Majestic hotel in the Zocalo Plaza, heart of the city.
Day 2:
- 7:30 Breakfast at the hotel.
- 9:00 Visit to the Anthropology Museum.
- 11:00 Depart to Zitacuaro, Michoacan.
- 14:00 Lunch in Zitacuaro.
- 15:00 City tour of the beautiful colonial city of Zitacuaro and find out why this city is called the "Three Times Heroic Zitacuaro City".
- 16:00 Visit the ceremonial centre of Zirahuato in Sn. Felipe de los Alzati.
- 18:30 Check-in hotel Don Bruno in Angangueo.
- 19:30 Dinner in your hotel.
Day 3:
- 8:00 Breakfast in the hotel.
- 9:00 Transfer from Angangueo to El Rosario Butterfly sanctuary.
- 10:00 We will go hiking in this fantastic and magic place. Just imagine that these Monarch Butterflies have made and incredible long journey to escape the harsh winters in the USA and Canada. You will find an amazing amount of butterflies altogether in one tree.
- 14:30 Lunch in Angangueo.
- 15:30 We will walk the charming downtown of Angangueo where we will have the opportunity to visit the Inmaculada Concepcion Temple and Sn. Simon Temple, and the history’s aisle, where we will found out why Angangueo is called "The town that refused to die".
- 17:00 Back to the hotel.
- 18:00 Lecture about the biology and migration of the monarch butterflies.
- 19:00 Dinner in the hotel.
Day 4:
- 8:00 Breakfast at the hotel.
- 9:00 Transfer to the Sierra Chincua butterfly sanctuary.
- 10:00 Arrival to the Sanctuary.
- 10:30 We will horse back ride for about 50 minutes to find where the butterflies are located.
- 14:00 Lunch in Angangueo.
- 16:00 We will have time to relax and rest after two hiking days.
- 19:00 Dinner in the hotel.
Day 5:
- 07:30 Breakfast in the hotel.
-09:00 Departure to Los Azufres , sulfide thermal waters place.
- 12:00 Arrival to Los Azufres, where we will go hiking through the park and don't forget to bring your bathing suit, because you don't want to miss a nice swim in one of Los Azufres' lovely sulfide thermal waters .
- 14:00 Enjoy a nice lunch in this wonderful park full with mountains, forest, thermal waters and lakes.
- 15:00 Depart to Patzcuaro.
- 18:00 Check-in hotel "Hosteria San Felipe".
- 19:30 Dinner in your hotel.
Day 6:
- 07:30 Breakfast in your hotel.
- 09:00 Transfer to Uruapan.
- 12:00 Arrival in Uruapan and visit to the Eduardo Ruiz National Park. We have the opportunity to discover this very unique park. This park is a tropical rain forest with trails along the Rio Cupatitizio , which springs in La Rodilla del Diablo (the Devil's Knee). We will be able to enjoy the wonderful crystal-clear water.
14:00 Lunch in the park, where you can enjoy a traditional dish: Trout with macadamia nut (Restaurant Terraza de la trucha)
15:00 We have some more time to explore this beautiful national park and the beautiful handcrafts.
- 17:00 Transfer back to Patzcuaro.
- 19:30 Dinner in your hotel.
Day 7:
- 07:00 Early breakfast in your hotel.
- 07:45 Boat trip to Janitzio Island. Discover this fantastic island in the middle of Lake Patzcuaro populated by Tarascan Indians. Have a picture taken at the top of the island where the huge statue of Morelos (Mexican independence hero) is located, this statue can be seen from Patzcuaro.
- 10:00 Van transfer to Toluca.
- 14:00 Lunch in Toluca.
- 15:00 Visit to the amazing "Cosmovitral" the botanical garden with the biggest stained glass in the world.
- 16:00 Depart to Mexico City.
- 19:00 Check in Majestic hotel.
- 19:30 Farewell dinner in a nice Mexican restaurant.
Day 8. Depart. Transfers to the airport depending on the flights back.
