Your Itinerary:
Start time 8.30 am from Blenheim. Your sightseeing tour starts with travel by 4WD vehicle over the interesting and scenic old coach road to the Lower Awatere Valley. The journey then takes us past many well known Marlborough vineyards e.g. Montana, Nobilos, Vavasour Wines, Clifford Bay, growing our world famous Sauvignon Blanc here in the fertile alluvial soils of New Zealand's third largest wine growing region. The Inland Kaikoura mountain range is the backdrop to our journey through the vineyard clad river terraces on our way to the high country. The valley has many historic homes and buildings and its farms produce some of the finest Merino wool as used by the Icebreaker label. Stop for morning tea in an idyllic spot where you can soak up the atmosphere of the stunning scenery. Traveling onwards towards Molesworth Station to enjoy a specially prepared picnic lunch beside the original Molesworth Cottage made of cob. Experience the unique unspoiled vastness of New Zealand's largest cattle station as we travel to Isolated Flat with its vast river valley formed by glaciers millions of years ago and the shear barren mountains ravaged by rabbits long gone. Listen to stories of the past and learn about the history of the area. The return trip down the valley is equally as spectacular and gives you another aspect of the awe inspiring views of this vast valley returning to Blenheim via the original Taylor Pass route. The one-day sightseeing tour includes morning and afternoon refreshments, picnic lunch, awesome high country scenery, commentary, and a historic information pack about Molesworth and Rainbow Stations.
