Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrive in Arusha. Guests arrive on the evening Air Tanzania flight and are collected by the guides from the airport. The guests are transferred directly in to Arusha National Park. This will be a fantastic arrival, we will drive on rough roads in to thick forests, a real arrival in to deep dark Africa. Here we stay in a stylish adventure camp.
Day 2: Morning hike in Meru forest, afternoon canoing. We start our day with a short hike in the Meru forest in the morning. This is followed by a picnic lunch in the forest and canoing in the afternoon. After the canoing we transfer to Manyara for the evening. Hiking in Arusha National Park is a unique experience, very different from any of the other place we will visit whilst on safari.
Day 3: Early morning transfer to Oldoinyo Lengai. Afternoon mountain bike ride to Oldoinyo Lengai Volcano. We will do a vehicle transfer with a trailer full of mountain bikes behind us. Once the road gets less sandy close to Lengai we will bike the last few hours in to Lake Natron Camp. This is amazing biking on the foot hills of Oldoinyo Lengai and stunning in the late afternoon. We will plan to arrive in camp around 17:00 in the afternoon. This evening around 23:00 we will climb the volcano.
Day 4: Oldoinyo Lengai Volcano and afternoon hike. We get down from the mountain around 10:00 and rest in camp till the afternoon. For those up to it we will go for a hike to waterfalls flowing out of the Crater highlands. This will be a 3 – 4 hour hike but easier than the Lengai climb. This is also a great place for guests to go swimming and enjoy refreshing mountain streams.
Day 5: Mountain biking Lake Natron to the Gol Mountains. We will depart from Lake Natron camp in the early morning by vehicle. The first few km of the track is extremely sandy but once we are on harder soils we will bike for a full day around the edge of Lake Natron, up the great rift valley and in to the Gol Mountains. The vehicles will be behind the group at all times and should the track be too sandy we can cross that by car. Also once we get to about 16:00 we will jump in the vehicles and drive in to our camp in the Gol Mountains.
Day 6 - 7: Full day donkey trekking. For the next two days we load our tents on the backs of Masaai donkeys and all together we hike up in to the Gol Mountains together with local Masaai. We will set up camp where we end in the afternoon.
Day 8: We depart from camp early in the morning and does a road transfer to the Crater. We spend the rest of the day in the crater game viewing and transfer to Arusha in the late afternoon to spend the evening in Kigongoni Lodge.
Day 9: Depart. The vehicles will collect the guests early in the morning and transfer them to the airport.
