Not too long ago, Turkey contained areas of unimaginable beauty that remained undiscovered. See the massive stone heads strewn across Mount Nemrut, which were not known to Man until the end of the Second World War. The city of Van was so remote that it was not accessible to visitors until 1960. Not all of our destinations will be remote; we will have the chance to wander through the narrow streets of Diyarbakir where the market holds interesting valuables to those wanting to bring souvenirs back home.
The massive city of Istanbul allows us to cross from Asia to Europe simply by crossing the Bosphorus suspension bridge. The land of Cappadocia will take everyone’s breath away as we see the amazing natural structures it holds. Come to understand the history of Turkey’s religions as we gaze up at some of country’s earliest Islamic buildings in the city of Erzurum.
There are many areas that also hold Biblical significance, such as Urfa and Harran - the setting to many of Abraham’s stories - or legend telling of Mount Ararat being the final resting place of Noah’s Ark. Greek mythology is represented through the temple of the goddess Artemis, who was the protector of the city of Ephesus.
