Are you dreaming of a ride along ancient trails over impressive mountains, through waste mountain pass, along running water and roar waterfall? And further in the wonderful mountain scenery crossing the pasture to small hidden and forgotten villages?
This ride is for riders wishing to try everything. This is possible because we here combine trekking from place to place with our riding centers in the mountains.
The tour is following the ancient trails that for hundreds of years have connected the North of Bulgaria with its Southern parts.
The daily rides are from 6 to 8 hours.

Tour Itinerary:
Day 1. Arrival at Sofia Airport and transportation to the riding base “Balkan” in the Balkan mountains.
Day 2. Today is an important day as regards to choosing of the horse you will be riding the next few days. After that a leisure ride out of the town of Apriltsi is planned in order to gain an intimate knowledge of your horse and its habits. After lunch the trek starts going up in mountains (roughly 3 hours) to the first chalet.
Day 3. The ride continues through the Central Balkan National Park and Mount Botev (2376 m a.s.l.) thus providing superb view towards the Thrace Plain. After 6-7 hours ride the day ends in a small monastery where the riders and horses will find a rest for the night.
Day 4. In the morning some time will be spent on exploration of the daily life in the monastery and the neighboring small town. After lunch the trail continues through the “Valley of Roses” and after nearly 5 hours we reach the Sredna Gora Mountains where we overnight in the chalet Sveschen.
Day 5. The whole day is dedicated to riding in the terrains around the riding center “The Valley of Roses”. Play, fun and games with the horses combined with needed relax at the edge of a small lake – a really exciting experience. In the fantastic meadows you have all possibilities to break into trot or gallop or to be a pathfinder together with the riding guide in the remote surroundings.
Day 6. In the morning we head north following other hidden trails and after some 7 hours we reach the place where we stay overnight.
Day 7. It is about time to ride back over the mountains to our starting point – Apriltsi. After 6 hours ride we finally see the stables and the ring marking the end of the journey.
Day 8. After breakfast we say good-bye to the horses and guides. Transfer to Sofia Airport for departure.

This is a unique proposal, which gives you the opportunity to stay in Bulgaria for one week more at the incredibly low price! We can offer a great variety of means of accommodation - from home stays (no meals) to 2, 3 and 4-star hotels (BB or HB) on the Southern Bulgarian Black Sea Coast:
- Sunny Beach - a big modern resort with hundreds of hotels, cafes, pubs, casinos, water-sports facilities etc.
- Nessebar, Sozopol - small towns (founded by the ancient Greeks) with picturesque Old Quarters and a specific atmosphere.
- Lozenets -a peaceful small village with a beautiful beach. Only 4-5 km from the forests of the Strandzha Mountains where you can go walking, biking or riding horses.
Terrain: The area of the Balkan Mountains is hilly, providing opportunities for both riding through woods and dirty roads and also for galloping along the meadows and pastures. Rocky areas and steep river valleys also occur.
Accommodation: The Balkan Trail is based on 7 nights FB. Two nights are with private accommodation in Apriltsi, 2 nights in the chalet in rinding center “The Valley of Roses” and 3 nights en route in the mountains. The luggage is transported in a supporting vehicle and the riding guide is accompanying the party throughout the trail.
