You will be captivated by the Priorat marvelous landscapes resulting from the combination of its wine crops, olives and dried fruits. The exclusive geographical characteristics and climate conditions of this region and the predominance of licorella (typical slat stone) in the soil, make the high quality of its wines possible.
The cultural richness and landscape diversity of the area are remarkable. You can find different monuments and buildings from the romantic period as well as a combination of woods, terraced vineyards descending the hillside to the sea.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1, Friday: Priorat. Arrival to the Hotel. Catalan dinner.
Day 2, Saturday: Priorat.
- 11:30h - Visit an avant-garde winery (Cesar Martinell) located in Montsant. This "denominación de Origen" is currently celebrating its 5th anniversary. The Montsant wines are recognized for its good price-quality relation.
- 2:00h - Lunch or "calçotada" (seasonal) in a restaurant located in Falset. We will taste the traditional Catalan cuisine matched with Priorat and Montsant wines. During the afternoon a short visit to the old lead mines in Bellmunt del Priorat. They were closed in 1972 and now reopened to visitors. In the evening return to the hotel for a wine tasting held by one enologist from the Priorat. Introduction to the Priorat and Montsant wines. Taste of 4 wines. Dinner at hotel.
Day 3, Sunday: Priorat. Breakfast at the hotel.
- 11:00 hrs - Visit a cellar in the Priorat D.O.C along with a taste. In this winery we will appreciate the famous "terroir" where the grapes are grown characterized by slopes that can be from 15% to 60% away from level.
