Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Huaraz – Cashapampa – Llamacorral camp
After the breakfast in the hotel we will climb aboard to the private bus to go along the Callejón de Huaylas in the north side of Huaraz. Passing different traditional Andean towns, we will stop in Carhuaz (2650m). Here we will find the traditional made at home ice-creams from local fruits, authentic and ecological handcrafts shown in "el abuelo" handcrafts shop. "El abuelo" is a shop located in the main square, where we will enjoy Carhuaz native products.
Then we will continue with our travel passing the Yungay. This city was buried by an avalanche that fell down from Huascaran mountain in 1970. After this, we will get to Caraz city (2400m), then we will continue our travel to get the last Cashapampa District arriving around 10 AM, where we will meet our donkey drivers to transport our hiking equipments. From here we will start hiking up. After walking 2 and a half hours we will have lunch. After hiking up for 5 or 6 hours we will get the first camp the named Llamacorral, arriving around 4PM.
Day 2: Llamacorral – Taullipampa camp
After breakfast we will start hiking up at 9 AM. After hiking up 2 hours we will get to Ichiccocha and Jatuncocha lakes. After visiting these lakes we will continue hiking up to get to Alpamayo and Taullipampa, where we will have lunch, then we will climb up for about 1 hour to get the Base Camp Alpamayo, where we will enjoy the splendid views of Alpamayo and Quitaraju Mountains in the south side Artesonraju, Paron and Aguja mountains. We will go down than and hike up for about 1,5 hour to get to the second camp named Taullipampa, arriving around 3 or 4 PM. Overnight camping at(4200m).
Day 3: Taullipampa – Cachinapampa camp
After breakfast we will start hiking up. After hiking up 4 hours we will get to the Punta Union pass (4750m) where we will have lunch and enjoy the splendid views of mountains and landscapes. After this we will go down for about 3,5 hours half to get to the last camp the named Cachinapampa. Overnight camping at (3800m).
Day 4: Cachinapampa - Vaquería – Huaraz
After the breakfast in the morning we will start going down for about 2,5 hours to get to Vaqueria, where we will wait for our private bus to take us to Huaraz. We will pass the Portachuelo and here we will have a short stop to enjoy the splendid views of Huascaran, Pisco, Huandoy mountains. After this we will continue our travel till we reach Yuraccorral, where we will have lunch, then we will continue our trip passing the Orconcocha and Chinancocha lakes of Llanganuco. We will get to Parque Nacional Huascaran. Then we will continue going down to the valley until Yungay, then to Huaraz arriving at 6 or 7 PM and transfer to Hotel.
Notes:
Things that you you need to bring:
- Backpack
- Sleeping bag
- Rain jacket or poncho (plastic ponchos can be purchased in Huaraz for a small price)
- Strong, comfortable footwear
- One complete change of clothing (you can carry more if you afford to hire a personal porter, please see options below)
- Sweater or jacket
- Water bottle (boiled drinking water will be provided)
- Torch or flashlight and batteries
- Hat or cap for sun protection
- Sun block (sun protection cream)
- Insect repellent (absolutely important item for this hike is bug spray. Anything with a lot of DEET will do the job, anything less is simply not sufficient. Bug spray must be bought when you come to Huaraz, as it cannot be found in the neighboring towns)
- Toiletries, towel and toilet paper
- Small snacks, chocolate, dried fruit, biscuits, energy bars etc,
- Camera, plenty of film and spare batteries
- Cash in soles
- Swimsuit (if you plan on visiting the hot springs at Hunacarhuaz after the trek)
- Optional: walking poles or stick rubber covers (can be hired from our office for a certain price for the 4 day trek)
- Copy of the passport
This could be optional:
- Personal horse with and extra cost
- Vegetarian meals. We can provide vegetarian meals or cater for special diets with no extra cost. Just let us know at time of reservation prior to trek departure.
- Sleeping bag hire. If you haven't got a sleeping bag or you don't want the hassle of bringing one then we have sleeping bags in our office for rent

All trek reservations must be made in advance (30 days in advance is recommended especially for April, May, June, July and August)

Notes: We will require a non-refundable trek deposit of 50% per person payable at the time of Reservation and we will confirm you by e-mail or phone your trek booking. The remaining balance is to be paid in Huaraz one day prior to your trek departure date.
