Ultimate Safari to Africa: Aug 4-16, 2008.
National Park and Selous Game Reserve - the largest game reserve in the world. Both parks have lots of game not tourists. Special addition is an overnight in the pristine forest environment of Udzungwa Mt. National Park. The tour offers a diversity of activities: game viewing, walking, hiking, snorkeling, scuba diving. The group leader is Dr. Jim Merryman anthropology professor at Wilkes University. Jim lived in Africa for 12 years and has already taken several groups to Africa.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1, 5 Aug: We will meet you upon arrival at Dar Es Salaam International Airport and transfer to Palm Beach Hotel for overnight stay on bed and breakfast basis.
Day 2, 6 Aug: We will pick you up from the hotel at 8:00am and depart Dar es Salaam for Ruaha National Park with lunch en route. End of the day you will have dinner and overnight at Ruaha River Lodge. Approximate transit time: 8-9 hrs. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 3, 7 Aug: This is a full day in Ruaha with morning and afternoon game viewing, or perhaps an optional walk with a park ranger if you wish. Meals and overnights at the lodge once more. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 4, 8 Aug: After breakfast and a morning game drive, depart the park and drive to Udungwa Mountains with a picnic lunch en route, dinner and overnight at Udzungwa Mountain Lodge. Approximate transit time: 5,5 hrs. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 5, 9 Aug: After breakfast enter Udzungwa Mt. National Park and hike in the park (no driving permitted in this pristine forest environment) with a ranger this morning. After lunch, depart for Selous Game Reserve. You will overnight at Jimbiza Tented Camp. Lodge at the edge of Selous Game Reserve. Approximate transit time: 4 hrs.
Days 6-7, 10-11 Aug: Full days in Selous with morning and afternoon game viewing in Selous. You will have a boat safari and a 0,5 day walking safari in lieu of a game drive. You will have meals and overnight at Jimbiza again. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 8, 12 Aug: After breakfast, depart the park and transfer to Dar es Salaam by vehicle arriving at the airport in time to check in for you flight to Zanzibar on Coastal Air, departing at 16:45 and arriving at 17:05. You will be met upon arrival in Zanzibar and transfer to Tembo House Hotel/Dhow Palace Hotel for overnight stay on bed and Breakfast: Meal Plan: B, D, dinner on own accounts/ arrangements. Approximate transit time: 30 min from airport to Stone Town.
Day 9, 13 Aug: Check out for hotel and transfer at the time of your choice (depending upon your Stone Town activities), to Zanzibar Kempinski Hotel. At leisure at the beach hotel to relax on the beach, snorkeling, scuba diving or take one of the many tours available on the island usch as a Spice tour, Jozani Forest tour to name a few. Water sport activities or excursions are available at additional cost, can be arranged and organized while you are there. Approximate transit time: 35 min. Includes: (B), (D).
Day 10, 14 Aug: On your own at Zanzibar Kempinski with dinner and breakfast accommodation once more. A special seafood BBQ will be prepared for your group tonight. Includes: (B), ((D).
Day 11, 15 Aug: Will be picked up from the hotel and transfer to the seaport in time for the ferry to Dar and transfer to Dar es Salaam Airport to check in for your outbound travel. Approximate transit time to Zanzibar Seaport: 15 min. Includes: (B).
