Israel is a tiny country the size of New Jersey. In this compact area there are no less than four geographical regions, four seas and an abundance of flora, fauna and animal life. One can travel the entire country in 6 short hours and in that span go from snow capped mountain to lush forests to desert canyons and rolling sand dunes. Hiking in Israel offers you gorgeous landscapes, thrilling treks, and inspiring remnants from our past, the birthplace of humanity. The following is a sample itinerary which varies from season to season.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: We begin our tour in the morning traveling up north to the scenic Galilee. We stop along the way to visit the charming city of Zichron Ya'akov. Next, we hike Mt. Arbel where we see an amazing view of the Sea of Galilee, Zefat, and Tiberius below. Dinner at a great fish restaurant on the Sea of Galilee.

Day 2: Today, we hike Nahal Amud where we see some amazing archaeological remains of an ancient community. Later, we take a dip in the Sea of Galilee. This evening we visit a Druze village where we are guests to our wonderful host, Kamal, who prepares a feast and a talk about his secret religion.

Day 3: A fun filled water hike is in the Golan where we hike and come across a lovely waterfall, climb down a ladder and jump into a pool of water. Time to relax our weary muscles in the warm natural mineral waters of Hamat Gader where we later imbibe in a delicious 5 course Thai dinner.

Day 4: Today is our last day in northern Israel and we spend it hiking Nahal Tamar, an exciting hike with twists, turns, ropes to hold onto. We stop at Sachne a natural spring where we spend our afternoon swimming, cooking out. Later, we make our way to Jerusalem.

Day 5: Jerusalem is the most unique city in the world. One can feel a palpable quickening of one's heart beat upon entering the city. Today we explore the ancient stones and learn of the amazing history back to the days of King David. We spend the day in the Old City, visiting the Arab Market, The Western Wall, the City of David with its underground cistern, the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, Mt. of Olives, and so much more. We eat at a wonderful local Moroccan restaurant and then spend time shopping in the Ben Yehudah outdoor mall.

Day 6: Today we learn about modern Jerusalem. We visit Mt Herzl, the neighborhoods that were built outside of the walls of the city, Ein Kerem and more. After another full day touring Jerusalem, we make our way to the south of Israel- to the Dead Sea Region.

Day 7: We begin our day with an amazing hike to Nahal Arugot, an oasis in the middle of the Negev Desert. Here we hike through springs, to come across a beautiful waterfall. Tonight we spend an evening eating middle eastern food and trying our hands at belly dancing.

Day 8: We climb Masada, the mountain where the last siege in the great Jewish revolt took place and where King Herod built his summer home. We spend the rest of the day at a wonderful Dead Sea spa, enjoying an unbelievable experience floating in the Dead Sea, smoothing therapeutic mud from its waters on our bodies, enjoying warm mineral spring water, or pampering ourselves with a massage.

Day 9: After another amazing desert hike, we make our ways to a Bedouin tent where we ride camels through the desert and then enjoy a delicious Bedouin feast followed by our Bedouin host telling us about the Bedouin culture. We have a late night hike in a desert canyon followed by a campfire.

Day 10: We head to the modern metropolis of Tel Aviv, stopping along the way for a wonderful exploration of an ancient system of caves at Bet Guvrin. We arrive in Tel Aviv in time to enjoy the wonderful outdoor artist market, the flea market and the exclusive shopping on Shenkin Street. We enjoy a delicious dinner at our hotel and the have a campfire on the beach.

Day 11: We spend a day on a walking tour of the ancient port of Jaffe and all the way to Tel Aviv, visiting the first neighborhoods there, hearing about the history, seeing the Bauhaus buildings, and up to Rabin Square. We then say our farewells and depart. Those wanting to add on Petra, will be transported to the airport to fly to Eilat where they will spend the night and begin the tour of Petra the next day.
