Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Pakse Laos
From Pakse we head to the town of Phoui, briefly stopping at Tan Fan waterfall on the way. After lunch visit the coffee plantations. See the whole processing of the coffee from the planting, and the roasting to the cupping of the coffee. We then continue onto Attapeu where we spend the night in the Attapeu Palace hotel. Includes: (L, D).
Days 2 - 3: Attapeu a 2 day trek and boat trip to the village of Ban Mai
From Attapeu travel to the community of Ban Mai, approximately 48 km away in the District of Sanamxai. Stop along the way to view a variety of bird life at Nonglom Lake.
Continue through the community of Sanamxai, situated at the base of the Bolaven Plateau, before heading on to Ban Mai on the banks of the Xepian. From Ban Mai you will continue by boat up the Xepian River, approximately another hour. The first waterfall reached is Tad Samongphak, especially breathtaking just after the rainy season when the rivers are high.
From Samongphak waterfall continue another six kilometers on foot to Saepha waterfall, approximately three hours of walking upriver and return to Samongphak by alternate trail that passes through forest and farmland.
Have a traditional Lao picnic lunch as you relax, swim and soak your feet in the cool waters of the Xepian.
From Saepha you will return to Samongphak where a boat will be waiting to take you back down river to Ban Mai. Stay the night with a Lao family and contribute to the local economy. Eat a traditional Lao dinner and view the local way of life, enjoy a relaxed evening on the banks of the Xepian and return to Attapeu the following morning. Includes: (2B, 2L, D).
Day 4: Attapeu
Take an excursion to Ban Pa am and see the old russian missile see parts of the Ho Chi Minh trail before returning to Attapeu. Includes: (B, L).
Day 5: Attapeu - Vietnam
Overland crossing the new border near Attapeu to Vietnam which will put you in the central highlands and we will continue onto the old world heritage site of Hoi An. Includes: (B, L, D).
Day 6: Hoi An
Bicycle tour of of the old city of Hoi An finishing the tour in the afternoon and then onward travel or make your own arrangements (B, L).
