Tour Itinerary:

Day 1:

8:00am departure from Pakse for the Xe Pian NPA (Phalaibok village) at Phalaibok your guide will introduce you to the local guide who will tell you about the forest, with its medicinal and useful products and show you signs of wildlife and birds. Start trekking through the forest from Phalaibok village to Ta Ong, on the way there will be a picnic lunch. Once arriving at Ta Ong you can relax in the perfect bungalow which doubles as a Homestay there is communal lodging here and a shared toilet and shower but it is separate from the villagers and is quite cosy with a balcony overlooking the dense Xe Pian forest.

Ta Ong is an ethnic Lave village, and the villagers speak the Khmer language as well as Laos and have their own a unique and distinct culture and traditions. Enjoy dinner with the villagers you can try chicken soup, sticky rice or even chilly paste, don’t worry though we will have some western luxuries for you if you can’t handle the local cuisine. Take in the surroundings before settling in too sleep and enjoy a well deserved rest. Includes: (L, D).

Day 2:

05:00 - Wake up early in the morning to take a short walk in the forest close the village, there you will listen and watch several kind of birds feeding from the trees and (if you are lucky) you may have the chance to listen or even to spot the endangered species of Yellow-cheeked Gibbons.

7:00 - Breakfast at your guest house and start the way back to Phalaibok through a different trail in the forest. From here you will have the possibility to easily reach the top of a hill from where you will have a breathtaking view of the dense forest and valleys of Xe Pian Natural Park.

On arrival in Nong Pin walk through this village to reach the Ta’ Euang River and take a 1-hour boat ride back to Phalaibok village, this is a great opportunity to see birds along the river. On arrival in Phalaibok relaxed and enjoy a well deserved late lunch before returning to Pakse or transfer to Si Pan Don on request. Includes: (B, L).
