As you may be aware, there are only about 650 mountain gorillas remaining in their natural habitat. Their habitats are in Congo, Uganda and Rwanda. Presently, Rwanda not only enjoys the best security in the region but also had the easiest access routes for visiting the mountain gorillas.
Tour Itinerary: Day 1: Nairobi or Kigali/City tour. Arrive Kigali direct or from Nairobi. Be met by our representative. Transfer to Hotel Novotel- Kigali (4 star). Briefing our representative and introduction to your driver-guide. City tour of Kigali. Dinner and Overnight at Hotel Novotel Umubano. Day 2: Parc National Des Volcans - Gorillas. After an early breakfast, at 0600h drive NW to Ruhengeri, main town base for gorillas (approx. 2 hours from Kigali). Upon arrival gorilla formalities. Then drive on to theedge of Volcanoes National park. Here you will be briefed again by the park's Wardenand guides on how to behave in the forest and in the presence of Mountain Gorillas. Enter the park for Gorilla Trekking which will take you to midday. Lunch at Gorilla Nest Lodge. Afternoon, visit the little known but compellingly beautiful twin lakes Bulera and Ruhondo. Dinner and Overnight : Gorillas Nest Lodge (3 star), (built 2 Kms west of the Kinigi Park Headquarters, it lies on a 5 acre compound of tall Eucalyptus trees. It is in a lovely rural setting and ideally situated to the park headquarters for each morning gorilla registration process. Nearby is a traditional Rwandese homestead for visitors to visit the afternoon's after the gorilla trekking Day 3: More gorillas in the Parc des Volcans. After breakfast at the lodge, second Gorilla tracking in the park visiting a different family. Lunch at the lodge. Thereafter drive along Lake Kivu to the lakeshore town of Kibuye. Lake Kivu is a beautiful vast inland sea enclosed by the steep, green terraced hills that are so characteristic of rural Rwanda. Arrive late afternoon and check in at Kibuye Guest House. Dinner and Overnight: Kibuye Guest House. The Guest house is a chalet style hotel on the edge of Lake Kivu with a small beach front perfect for swimming into the clear waters of the lake. Day 4: Lake Kivu - Kigali - Departure. Full morning at leisure at the lake with optional boat trip on Lake Kivu (a must). Explore the numerous islands, islets and peninsulas that characterize Kibuye or just enjoy a swim into the lake. Lunch at the Guest House before driving back to Kigali (2 hours on a very nice road) arriving in time for outbound flight. Notes: Price Includes:
