Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival at the airport of Rijeka, meeting with tour guide, departure to hotel Kanajt in Punat, accommodating in rooms, welcome party and familiarizing with plan of journey, in afternoon visit to the francisian monastery Kosljun.
Day 2: Our story about Croatian nobility will begin with Frankopans, one of the biggest noble families in Croatia. This family comes from island of Krk, therefore we will begin our story there. Today we will visit town Krk, its roman center strolling through cardo and decumanus, frankopans castle, unique architectonic complex of the cathedral, drinking coffee at riva a few yards from see and enjoy shopping in little narrow streets. So relaxed we shall continue to the middle of the island on macadam road, which leads through dens oak tree forests, searching for ruins of the first frankopans castle just to see how things got started for them at the very beginning. After roaming in the wood, across field of Vrbnik full of wineyards we will get to Vrbnik, romantic town on the cliff. There we shall visit old family wine-cellar and taste well known vrbnicka zlahtina, the most precious wine from this climate. After we brace our self with sheep cheese, prosciutto and wine we will back to dinner to our hotel.
Day 3: Today we continue our story just like Frankopans did, spreading further. As that family became more powerful they spread their dependencies, and they had a lot of them. Among many of Frankopan town castels we will visit the old town Grobnik, nearby Rijeka. For their power, as it was usual in that time, Frankopani thanked God and they were founders of many convents and sanctuaries. One of these is island of Kosljun which we have already visited, but the most important sanctum is Trsat. After sightseeing Trsat we continue our story and leave towards inland, to Karlovac, town on four fivers. Hotel in which we will be situated is on Korana one of the most beautiful Croatian rivers.
Day 4: After breakfast we will visit town of Ozalj, the last residence of Frankopan family, which they lost together with other lands after execution of Fran Krsto Frankopan and Petar Zrinski. Because of Zirnsko- Frankopan conspiracy, we will continue story visiting abandon castle Bosiljevo were Fran Krsto Frankopan and Katarina Frankopan Zrinski, the last progeny of that big Croatian family were borne. On return we will sightsee Karlovac, one of the rarest towns in whole World for which we exactly know the year of foundation. Before dinner we will relax in wellness center in hotel.
Day 5: We continue further and leave to Croatian Zagorje where we will meet other Croatian noble families. First we will visit the capital town Zagreb and look around historical center, finishing on Ban Jelacic Square where his statue is. Journey lead us further towards Zapresic and Novi Dvori, family manor Jelacic- Buzimski, where lived and is buried Ban Josip Jelacic, great man of Croatian history. After that we will refresh at farm Gresna Gorica and taste typical meals from Zagorje. Zagorje is area of castles and legends, knights and their ladies, that world of fairy tales we will meet in Veliki Tabor, where you can even today hear young woman cry in cold winter nights... that is how begins one of the dolefully love stories, story about count Fridrich Celjski and Veronika Desinicka. We will spend the night in castle Gjalski, today adapted as hotel.
Day 6: Today we will visit castle Trakoscan, the most romantic castle in Croatia, and after that we will continue our trip towards Cakovec, home of most known noble family in Croatia, family Zrinski. We will visit their castle and find out stories about great men of that family, just like Nikola Subic Zrinski was, Croatian count which saved Wien and Europe from Turks in struggle nearby Siget. As we are returning to our hotel, we will visit the beautiful baroque town Varazdin, the first capital city of Croatia.
Day 7: After breakfast we will see Croatian national shrine Marija Bistrica. We will hear stories about black Madonna, taste some honey products which are the best from right here, buy licitarsko srce, as old Croatian tradition require. Now when we have refreshed with gvirc, old honey beverage, we will continue towards Stubica, a place where occurred the greatest rebellion of country folk against feudalist known as a Peasant Revolt. There we are going to visit a castle Orsic where you can find museum which reminds us on that rebellion. On return, after we take a rest, real knight dinner aspect us where we can enjoy in knight struggles, music, food and beverage from times forgotten long ago.
Day 8: We continue to Croati's plains, rich Slavonija. At journey from Zagorje to Slavonski Brod, we will pass by dvorac Janusevac, beautiful example of castle architecture from 19. Century. That castle was bild by nobleman Josip Vrkljanin when he went to retirement after serving as personal financial minister to Marija Lujza, second wife of Napoleon. And the legend says that those two were connected with more than just a job, that it was one lovely love story. After we accommodate and refresh in our hotel which is situated in the middle of vineyard on land of family Zdjelarevic, we will taste precious acknowledge wines from our host.
Day 9: Slavonija was frontier between Europe and Ottoman Empire for centuries, place of great warriors which kept Christian world. Today we will introduce you with story about baron Trenk, a man who brought in Europe military music, who has promoted necktie (cravat-Croat), who was commander of elite but undisciplinarian pandurs, much appreciated military formation. We will visit his castle on our way to Kutjevo, town well known by ancient wine-cellar where even Marija Terezija often stopped, and the story says that baron Trenk had something with that... we will taste the wines that exalted the empress and then return to our hotel where just for us will be waiting typical slavonian dinner with tamuritza players long in the night.
Day 10: After breakfast we will apart from slavonian plain and advance to Zagreb airport where we will wish you.
