Experience being closer to nature than you ever dreamed of! Imagine drifting, cruising, paddling down the Zambezi River, picking your way amongst hippos and crocodiles, relaxing in the many eddies and calm waters caused by sandy islands. You pause to watch a herd of elephant swimming across the river to feed on the lush riverine vegetation.
As you listen to nothing, nothing but the sounds of the hippo grunting at each other, nothing but the cry of Zambia’s national bird the Fish Eagle. At night while you are camped on one of the islands of the Zambezi the sounds of nothing become even more intense. Lion, Hyena, Hippo all seem to be calling to you, under a blanket of stars...
You would be hard pressed to find a more genuine African experience than our four day three night canoe safari starting at the point where the mighty Zambezi and Kafue rivers meet.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: You will be introduced to our very experienced Zambian guide for a safety talk and the loading of the canoes before setting out into the river.
Day 2: It all seams a little strange at first but within minutes you have the canoe under control and the vehicle that dropped you off is forgotten about. The nights are spent around the open campfire camping on one of the islands of the Zambezi River, how the guide serves the wine at just the right temperature is a mystery that you don’t even to ponder over for too long as you relies that you have another three days of this awesome experience ahead of you.
Day 3: Not only will you be amazed at the countless numbers of games and bird life concentrated around the River, but the fisherman and people in their small villages will make you wonder if there really is a rat race out there and weather or not you really should go back to it.
Day 4: The safari ends at the confluence of the Zambezi and the Chongwe River which is the border between the Game Management Area, the Lower Zambezi National Park and the Mana Pools National Park. This really is one of the last true wilderness areas.
