Day 1: Departing from Cape Town at 09h00 the first destination is Hermanus. This quaint seaside village is arguably one of the finest land based whale watching venues world-wide. The town whale crier announces the presence of whales by blowing his horn made of dried seaweed. The steep cliffs and deep water allow the whales to come within a few meters of the shore. After lunch the trail takes us to Cape Agulhus the southern tip of Africa. After a visit to the lighthouse we head for the Breede River and an overnight stop at the Breede River Lodge. Dinner at the lodge.
Day 2: Sunrise will see you at the cliffs of San Sebastion Bay, recognized as having one of the largest population of whales in the Southern Hemisphere. After breakfast the journey takes us to George where we board the Outeniqua Choe Tjoe steam train for an unforgettable ride through forest and lakeland to Knysna. The day is ended with a evening sunset cruise on the Knysna Lagoon. Overnight in Knysna, the jewel of the Garden Route.
Day 3: In the early morning an exciting boat ride through the Knysna Heads will take you out to visit the playground of the whales. In the afternoon a memorable visit to the indigenous forests of the Tsitsikamma mountains will build up an appetite for an evening seafood feast.
Day 4: After breakfast the tour winds its way to Plettenberg Bay. Once again you have the opportunity to go to sea and experience whales and dolphins at close range. (For those not wanting to goout onto the ocean an alternative land based whale watching trip will be arranged) Lunch may be enjoyed at the beautiful Tsitsikamma National Park before departing for Port Elizabeth or back to Cape Town where you'll be dropped of at the airport.
