Franconia, the north of the federal state Bavaria, is one of the world's most romantic areas, with castles, medieval towns and centuries-old churches in a beautiful landscape of hills, valleys, rock formations and farmland. This tour will present you a good selection – well known places as Rothenburg or Nuremberg as well as hidden spots on the back roads.
All our tours are private tours, therefore we are able to offer a great flexibility in terms of departure cities, destinations, duration and program. All according to your wishes and needs. Please contact us for a personalized tour suggestion.
Your Itinerary
Day 1: Nuremberg – Swiss Franconia – Bamberg
Leaving the local 'metropolis' Nuremberg we are right in the beautiful landscape of Swiss Franconia (Germans tend to name every picturesque area 'Swiss'). Besides the beautiful nature and landscapes this is the world's #1 beer brewing area - nowhere else you will find more breweries (still more than 300). If you feel like it, you're welcome to ask your guide to stop at one or two of them to try these unique beers
Day 2: Bamberg – Aisch valley – Tauber valley – Rothenburg
Following the river Aisch we travel south west. Hidden gems such as Weikersheim Castle (baroque gardens) and the beautiful wood carved Alter in Creglingen are en route as well some romantic villages. In Rothenburg, today’s final destination, there is plenty to discover. Still completely encircled by the town's stone walls and hardly changed for centuries you will feel like you're back into the middle ages.
Day 3: Rothenburg – Würzburg – Steigerwald – Nuremberg
Our first stop today is Würzburg. Famous churches, the splendid Residenz palace and an impressive fortress await. Afterwards we will continue our way by crossing the Steigerwald a beautiful rural landscape. If you are interested in history the craftsmanship and farming Museum in Mönchsondheim will give you a unique chance to learn about life in former centuries. In the evening we will arrive in Nuremberg, where our tour will conclude.
