On this exceptional itinerary we enjoy a combination of a walking and vehicle safari in the Serengeti National Park (or Tarangire National Park), view prolific wildlife in the Ngorongoro Crater and ascend the Rongai Route to the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro. We spend time game viewing in the Serengeti where we hope to view the migration of the wildebeest (subject to season). At the Ngorongoro Crater we prepare for unsurpassed game viewing as within the crater are most species of East Africa's wildlife including the rare Black Rhino and large prides of lion. High above the crater rim our Masai guides lead us on a series of wildlife walks including a walk up Mt Lemagrut, a good training run for our ascent of Mt Kilimanjaro (5895m). In the company of our guides and crew we follow the relatively remote Rongai Route, displaying spectacular sunrise views from the summit.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Join Nairobi
Day 2: Drive to Arusha
Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater game viewing
Days 4-5: Drive to Serengeti border, game viewing
Days 6-8: In Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Day 9: Return to Arusha, transfer to Marangu
Days 10-13 Ascend via Moorland Camp (2600m) Kikelewa Caves (3600m), Mawenzi Tarn Hut (4100m) and Kibo (4700m)
Day 14: Ascend to Gillmans Point (5681m), Uhuru Peak (5895m), descend to Horombu
Day 15: Descend to Marangu, transfer to Arusha
Day 16: In Arusha
Day 17: Transfer to Nairobi where trip concludes
