Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Kathmandu - Pokhara - Potana. Morning flight to Pokhara, meet with trekking crew. After a short preparation, trek starts to Potana. The trail climbs steeply up through the lush forest to Dhampus – a big settlement on the top of the ridge at 1700 meters. From the ridge there are great views of the Mountains. After lunch, walk gradually up one hour further to Potana – a place with many hotels and lodges at 2000 meters. There are magnificent views of Mt. Annapurna south, Mt. Fishtail and Hiunchuli. Overnight. Tented camp.
Day 2: Potana - Ghandrung. In the morning trek along the ridge. The trail heads steadily through forest to Deurali "pass" at 2200 meters. Then the trail makes a steep descend for about one and half hours and crossing a stream, climbs gently and goes levelly through scattered villages, tea houses and some unusual oval-shaped houses to the flagstone streets of Landrung, another Gurung village at 1650 meters. Lunch at Landrung, descend down to Modi river and cross by a suspension bridge. Then a steep clumb to Ghandrung. The trek from Landrung to climb to Ghandrung. The trek from Landrung to Ghandrung takes about 3 hrs. Evening can be spent to explore the large prosperous village and have good close-up views of the mountains.Overnight: Tented camp.
Day 3: Ghandrung - Tadapani. The trail now traverses south – east through the rhododendron forest with excellent mountain views. From Ghandrung to Tadapani 5 hrs. Lunch en route. Overnight: Tented camp
Day 4: Tadapani - Ghorepani. The trail through the forest descends about half an hour, crosses a stream then ascends steeply following another stream crossing up to Deurali then gradual descends through the rhododendron forest to Ghorepani – a large collection of hotels and shops and camping spots.
Day 5: Ghorepani - Hile via Poonhill. Early morning excursion may be made to Poonhill, about an hour up to tower offers even better unobstructed sunrise view over the Mountains (including Mt. Dhaulagiri in the east to Lamjung in the west). After breakfast descend to the lunch spot. After lunch steep down stone stair cases of about 3050 leads to Hile. Overnight: Tented camp.
Day 6: Hile - Pokhara. After breakfast a pleasant walk of about 3 hours to Birethanti, a beautiful village. Stop for lunch. Walk half and hour further to Naya Pool. From Naya Pool drive back to Pokhara. Overnight at Pokhara or back to Kathmandu.
