Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Kathmandu (1300m) to Zhangmu (2500m). Early morning scenic drive to Kodari (Nepal – Tibet Border) through the beautiful Nepalese countryside and start a short walk (approx. one and half hour) uphill with porters to Zhangmu Immigration. Overnight at hotel.
Day 2: Zhangmu to Xegar (4350 meters). Day drive uphill to the highest plateau of the world with typical view of the Tibetan landscape offering sheer feeling of standing on the roof of the world crossing over Nyalam Pass (4800 meters) and Lalung La (5050 meters), weather permitting breathtaking panorama of beautiful Himalayan ranges including mt. Everest (8850 meters) but dwarfed by the vastness of the Tibetan plateau. Overnight at hotel.
Day 3: Xegar to Xigatse (3900 meters). Continue scenic drive to crossing over Gyatchula (5220 meters) the highest pass en-route to Lhasa via Lhaste from where a road to Mt. Kailash bifurcates to the west. Overnight at hotel.
Day 4: Xigatse to Gyantse (3950 meters). Morning sightseeing to the Panchen Lama’s Tashilumpu Monastery. Drive to Gyantse and visit to Kumbum Stupa and Phalkor monastery. Overnight at hotel.
Day 5: Gyantse to Lhasa (3650 meters). Full day picturesque drive crossing over Karola (5010m.) Kamba La (4794 meters), colorful Yamadrok Lake and the Tibetan lifeline river Brahma Putra (Yarlung) Tsangpo.
Day 6: and 7 Lhasa. Two full day sightseeing tour to Lhasa including Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Bazaar, Potala Palace, Drepung and Sera Monasteries. Overnight at hotel.
Day 8: Lhasa to Kathmandu. Early morning drive to Gongaar airport for the departure flight to Kathmandu or to your onward destination.
