The tour starts in one of the nicest, but seldom visited town of Umbria: Gubbio. Known for its articrafts, its medieval festival and its "crazy" people Gubbio is a well preserved jewel. Next is the San Francis trail. San Francis used to travel on foot from Assisi to Gubbio, we will retrace his steps along these rugged hills. After that we reach Assisi, with a peaceful athmosphere and soft colors. We walk the Subasio slopes visiting the most important hill towns of Umbria: Assisi, Spello and Trevi.
Next we will explore the heart of Umbria. We are in the heart of the wine area. Though less well known than the Tuscan wines, Montefalco Sagrantino is a superb product. And the Trevi olive oil is said to be the best in Italy. We end the tour in Perugia, the capital city of Umbria with its beautiful communal palace, its old crooked streets, and the Etruscan Arch , more than 2000 years old.
