Nairobi National Park established in 1946, just a short drive from the city center, is one of Kenya's oldest national parks and comprises 46 square miles of pristine savanna. A large population of game dominate the plains, including the Big Five; its major attraction being prides of Lions that often appear at the entrance of Mbangathi Gorge. It consists of two animal orphanages, including Daphne Sheldrick's Home for orphaned Elephants and Rhinos. This park, that borders Athi River to the south with its Hippo pools, is convenient for the business traveler.
