This gorgeous tour starts at the Lake Constance in Lindau – The happy end of Germany – as the town calls itself. Ahead of you the scenery of the Allgaeu Mountains of Bavaria, you will be climbing through small valleys up to the highlands of the Allgaeu, will be going through the terrific spacious alpine upland and reach the Alpsee Lake and Immenstadt firstly. With a splendid view of the Alps you will be cycling through a wonderful landscape. The tour reaches Füssen at Lake Forggensee via Lake Hopfensee and shortly after you will see the magical castles of King Ludwig II., Neuschwanstein Castle and Hohenschwangau Castle. You will continue your way on Romantic Street, visit the Wieskirch pilgrimage church, cycle through the forests of the Ammergau Mountains and finally reach Eschenlohe. From here the step-ups are not too steep and the path will lead you into the direction of the Wetterstein Mountains.
Soon you will be in Bad Tölz. There are numerous castles, beautiful towns and townships and an unforgettable landscape along the way. The cycle path offers constantly lovely views of the Alps, idyllic lakes and forests. From Bad Tölz you will turn onto the Isar Cycle Path. It will lead you away from the Alps and through the attractive alpine upland, along the well-known Pupplinger Au preserve area into the provincial capital of Bavaria Munich. South of Wolfratshausen the cycle track takes course on streets with little traffic in hilly terrain, but otherwise you will be cycling predominantly near the Isar River on very good drivable paths. This is a cycling experience with the contrast of still nature and lively historic towns. Tour Itinerary: Day 0: Arrival in Lindau. In the Old town of Lindau, which is situated on an Isle amidst Lake Constanze, we will have our first meeting in the evening. The old and very well-preserved half-timbered houses and not least the harbour with the 800 years old Mang Tower and the view of the mountains will enthrall you. You should arrive early enough to have time strolling through intricate paths, picturesque squares and to old buildings. Day 1: From Lindau up to the Alps to Stiefenhofen, 46 km - 28 miles In the morning the bikes will be fitted and every person will get the appropriate bicycle. Ahead of you the scenery of the Allgaeu mountains, you will have to manage steady uphill climbing all the day. You will be leaving Lake Constanze and will be cycling along the German-Austrian border. There are several sightseeing places en-route like the modern pilgrimage church in Wigritzbad, the pilgrimage church in Maria Thann, the Syrgenstein Castle (private ownership - only to see from the outside), the parish church in Gestratz. Moreover, the path offers incessantly charming views of the mountains, idyllic lakes and forests. Finally, you will be arriving in Stiefenhofen in the evening, where you will be sleeping in a rustic guesthouse. The very good food is famous in this area. It was built in the 16th century and is one of the oldest guesthouses in the Allgaeu region. Once, the German-Austrian border ran right through it. Day 2: From Stiefenhofen via Oberstaufen to Immenstadt, 24 km - 15 miles Today you can recover from the strain with only 24 km/ 15 miles downhill cycle. At first you will reach Oberstaufen. Please take up time for a stroll through this beautiful health resort. Passing by the Alpsee Lake, you will be cycling to Immenstadt. Well-worth seeing are the Marien Square with its historic buildings and St. Nikolaus, the catholic town parish church. Our hotel is situated in the centre of the town. You have all the afternoon at your disposal. You can take the longest chairlift of Bavaria up to the mountains and enjoy stunning views. From the lift station you can hike to the Alpe Oberberg Cottage, where you can spectate at the cheese production. Or you will go into the modern indoor swimming pool with sauna. Day 3: From Immenstadt to the King Castles, 63 km - 39 miles You will pass by the Rauhenzell Lake with the Rauhenzell Castle and the beautiful St. Otmar Church and cycle through the most southern brewery village of Germany - Rettenberg. Since 1447, beer is brewed here. You will cycle through several locations, passing by the Rottach Lake via Memersch and Haag to Oy. If the sky is clear, it's worthwhile to climb the mountain in Haag. You are rewarded by a beautiful view of the mountains. You will see the old Roman Bridge near Haslach and reach Nesselwang at noon, where you can visit the brewery. After this a little snack will be waiting for the group. You will start refreshed towards the King castles Hohenschwangau Castle and Neuschwanstein Castle. You get to Füssen via Hopferau with its castle (now a hotel) and Hopfensee Lake, where you will have the possibility to take a walk, before you spend the night in a beautiful hotel in Hohenschwangau with a view of the King castles. Day 4: From Hohenschwangau via the Romantic Street to Eschenlohe, 59 km - 37 miles The next morning, Neuschwanstein Castle is waiting for you with a guided tour. You can climb the mountain by a horse drawn carriage and go down by foot. We leave Hohenschwangau and have lunch two hours later in an alp restaurant situated in the woods. You will be cycling onward via Romantic Street to the pilgrimage Wieskirch Church and on to the King Path and through the Ammer Mountains to the Ammergau. Finally you will reach Eschenlohe via Bad Kohlgrub and the Murnau Moss, where you will spend the night in a guesthouse near the river. Day 5: From Eschenlohe to Bad Tolz, 48 km - 30 miles You cycle along the Loisach creek to Ohlstadt and have a look at the little Fieberkirchel Church. You will pass by the biggest stud of Bavaria in Schwaiganger and visit the open-air Glentleiten Museum a short time later. Here you will learn much about Bavarian way of life, tradition and architecture. Those who are interested can also visit the Schlehdorf Monastery. You will pass by the Kochelsee Lake and Kochel and reach Benediktbeuern. If you like, you can visit the monastery, the beer garden and the Glashütte Museum. Soon you will be cycling through Heilbrunn and into the health resort town of Bad Toelz with its picturesque Old town, tradition and atmosphere. Day 6: From Bad Tolz to Munich, 66 km - 41 miles Today we will change to the Isar Cycling Path and move slowly away from the Alps. Following incessantly the Isar River, you will cross the charming foothills of the Alps, passing through Geretsried and Wolfratshausen, where you can watch the wooden raft floating tourists on the water. Then you cycle through the well-known preserve area Pupplinger Au and arrive at the Schaeftlarn Monastery finally. You can have lunch in a nice restaurant with a beer garden nearby the river. Via Grunwald with its medieval castle you will eventually reach Munich, where you will stay overnight. Day 7: Departure. By taking the S-Bahn transit you will arrive at the main station or the Airport within a short time.
