Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival at Douala and night there.

Day 2: Limbe-Buea.

What to do: To see Rubber, oil palm and banana plantations and factories. Lava deposits of the most recent eruption of mount Cameroon. Fishing villages along the West Coast which stretches from Limbe to Idenau, Debuncha, the wettest place in Africa and second wettest in the world. Remnants of the German Colonial role such as the Prime Ministers Residence, Post office, hospital and grave yard.

Days 3-4: Kumba, Mbonge and Mundemba.

What to do: Visit cocoa plantations, sail to the palace of the chief of Barombi Kotto, located in an island in Lake Barombi; Visit the Ekombe waterfall, which is one of the highest in Africa and the cave in the same village: Visit the Korup National Park, home to Africa’s oldest and most biologically diverse rainforest, having a wide variety of primates, birds and plants. The most outstanding of which is the Ancistrocladius, Korupensis,famous for containing curative ingredients against HIV/AIDS virus; and others containing chemical substances which are new to modern science. Experience long forest walks and night in local camping houses.

Day 5: Bangem.

What to do: Manengouba twin lakes are an attractive site, worth visiting. Visit in Villa Luceole, a beautiful ecolodge at Melong and night at Bamenda.

Day 6: Bamenda and environs.

What to do: Visit the following places at Bali: Palace, Fortung’s Tower, Presbyterian Craft Centre, Presbyterian Church (Oldest in the North West Province, German graves and Zintgraff’s house. (Zintgraff was the first German explorer in West Cameroon). Visit the following places at Batibo combined cave and waterfall at Guzang and Palace of Upper Ashong and local drink oil production centers. Visit the following places at Mbengwi: Guneku Fon’s palace and cave, Tad market with its many crafts, Abi Fall.

Day 7: Bamenda and its environs.

What to do: Visit the following places at Bafut Fon’s Palace, Niba Albert Foundation and the Savanna Botanic Garden. Visit the Mankon Fon’s Palace with its Museum and sacred forest which has many endemic bird species and visit the traditional ritual sites and cultural evening.

Day 8: Lake Awing and environs.

What to do: Visit traditional ruler; trekking to the lake through the lower parts of mount Lefo visit, fulani herdmen near the lake and horse-riding. Rock climbing, forest walks and swimming in the lake.

Day 9: Laikom and Ndawara.

What to do: Ride through scenic beauty from Bamenda to Fundong. Visit Laikom Palace with its legendary statue called Afo-akom. Visit the Ndawara Highland Tea establishments and animal farms and watch traditional dances in the evening.

Day 10: Ndop and environs.

What to do: Visit Sabga and admire the picturesque landscape; visit Bamessing village with its numerous craft making centers, visit rice fields and transformation center, visit the Bamendjin dam at Bambalang and sail in local boats. Night at Ndop.

Day 11: Oku.

What to do: Watch the Ndop plain from the Wainama escarpment; ride through the picturesque hills to Vekovi and visit mountain forest with its many endemic plant and bird species and caves. Visit traditional ruler. Ride through the beautiful meadows and visit the Tadu dairy project. Visit the Oku Fon’s palace, craft centers, honey and coffee production centers and Lake Oku. Night in a local guest home.

Day 12: Nkambe.

What to do: Watch giant bats at Mbaku, and admire the Ndu Tea Estate while riding pass and also admire the scenic beauty of Nkambe and environs such as the waterfalls and escarpments.

Day 13: Wum.

What to do: On the way from Nkambe to Wum admire the very beautiful scenery characterized by extensive rocky hills and valleys, Dumbu Ranch, hanging bridges, mystical forest at Fonfuka, disappearance of waters of Kimbi River over a distance of about one kilometer, visit of Lake Nyos, visit magical stone at Weh and Lake Wum. Camp in a farm at the outskirts of Wum.

Day 14: Wum to Bamenda-Foumban.

On the way from Wum to Bamenda visit the Menchum Fall and rice farms and other rural lifestyles along the Bafut valley. Visit Bafoussam Palace. Night in hotel at Foumban.

Day 15: Foumban visit the palace of the Sultan of Foumban with its magnificent museum and rich historical past making it a UNESCO Heritage site. Visit the many craft galeries in the market. Visit Bandjom palace and museum. Procede to Yaounde while breaking at the local market at Makenene.

Day 16: Travel to Ngaoundere to Elephant Camp.

What to do: Ride through the fascinating scenery from Ngaoundere to the Elephant Camp. Trekking along the sandy dry river bed which constitutes the trial of the elephants and watch the latter feeding. Relax in the evening near a “born-fire” while eating freshly caught and roasted fish and watching the trooping in of elephants along their trail. Night in Boukaros.

Day 17: Garoua-Rhumsiki.

What to do: Brief stop at Lagdo dam and Garoua town. Ride through rocky landscape to Rhumsiki and night in Boukaros

Day 18: Rhumsiki.

What to do: Visit the spiky M’chirguire mountain and adjoining lunar landscape; Rhumsiki cave, craft making centers and fortune teller. Visit Kila Palace and Moor Palace to discover the rich culture of the Kirdis, while spending a night in each traditional ruler’s compound.

Day 20: Mokolo.

What to do: Visit the Tourou market, which is a border location between Nigeria and Cameroon. What to see at this market: Craft work, including colorfully designed clashes, some of which are used as caps by the women and others as utensils for the locally brewed wine (called bilibili). Merchandise such as dresses, food and traditional medicine. This market takes place every Thursday from Tourou ride through a bumpy road to Mokolo for the night in Boukaros.

Day 21: Mokolo to Oudgilla to Waza.

What to do: Visit the chief of Oudgilla with his fifty wives and hundreds of children. Trek through the mora massifs to Waza and brief visit of the park. Spend evening with locals, discovering their way of life and night in boukaroes.

Day 22: Visit the other parts of the park.

What to see: Diverse wildlife such as large mammals (elephants, giraffes, roan antelopes, Buffon Kobs, etc) and birds such as Austriches.

Day 23: Attantika mountains.

What to see:Koma tube which is very pristine and take off for Ngaoundere.

Day 24: Ngaoundere and travel to Yaounde by night train.

Day 25: Kribi.

What to do: Pygmies at Lolodorf, visit Eko Roosevelt in his palace, visit Lobe waterfall and night at seaside hotel.

Day 26: Campo National Park.

What to do: Visit terrestrial and aquatic national park to see diverse wildlife typical of the forest antelopes such as sitatunga and bongo, buffaloes; sea turtles, primates and birds such as parrots.

Day 27: Drive back to Douala and flight at night.
