Tour Itinerary: Day 1: Departing Blenheim 9 am from your accommodation, our first stop will be to have morning tea on a lifestyle block in the lower Awatere Valley. You will learn all about how Clifford and Weld made their mark on the area and their role as NZ's sheep farming pioneers. We have lunch on an isolated high country Merino farm in the picturesque Medway Valley, here guests are treated to a healthy meal of especially prepared Merino meat, fresh salads, home baked delights and our destinctive local Awatere wines. Some well known local wine labels include Clifford Bay, Koura Bay, and Vavasour. Learn of different farming practices, the history and local stories along the way. Enjoy an overnight stay at a high country station where you will have time to unwind and feel at home with good old fashioned country hospitality. Dinner is served with great local wines, there will be time before dinner for a walk, game of tennis, or just to soak up being in a beautiful remote setting. Day 2: We call in to visit an even more remote high country farming family who will share their interesting lifestyle with you. Traveling further on up the Awatere Valley we reach the mighty Molesworth Station. Once on Molesworth you will love traveling in the history and atmosphere of New Zealand's largest and most iconic station. We visit two restored historic cob dwellings situated at different points on the station, view the station headquarters, enjoy picnic lunch with good coffee and traditional favorites from the cake tin. Arrive in Hanmer Springs thermal resort late afternoon, with time to soak in the hot pools, wander through the town, or take one of the many bush walks before dinner. Day 3: We return to the vast unspoilt high country and visit places like Lake Tennyson, Tarndale Lakes, Hell's Gate, Conner’s Creek, Island Saddle (New Zealand's highest pass), Coldwater Creek, the historic Rainbow Accommodation house, and for those who dare a crossing of the Lee's Creek swing bridge. Travel through the rugged Rainbow Station a dramatic contrast in landforms and vegetation to Molesworth. Enjoy lunch in the wide open spaces, later travel past the world famous vineyards of Marlborough's Wairau Valley returning to Blenheim by 5:30 pm. Notes:
