Your Itinerary:
Day 1: Departing Blenheim 9 am we first head to the Awatere Valley. Enjoy meeting the locals of the Awatere Valley with morning tea and a garden visit to a small lifestyle block. Learn about the Awatere Valley and see how the face of farming there is changing. We lunch on an isolated high country Merino farm in the picturesque Medway Valley. You will be treated to a beautiful meal of Merino meat, fresh salads, home baked delights and distinctive local wines. Some well known local wine labels include Clifford Bay, Koura Bay, and Vavasour. Simon will tell you all about their farming operations and you will be able to stroll around Lynda's beautiful country garden. Mid afternoon arrive at Duntroon Station where you'll have time to explore the farm, relax and enjoy great farm hospitality. There will be time before dinner for a walk, game of tennis, or enjoy a swim, or just enjoy the beautiful remote setting. Dinner will be served with local wines. Day 2: The next day takes us further into the remote high country and another farm visit before reaching the mightily Molesworth Station. Arrive at Hanmer Springs Thermal Resort late afternoon with time to take a bush walk, wander through the township or soak in the hot pools before dinner. Lake Rotoiti. Day 3: We journey to the remote and beautiful lake Tennyson and through the beech forest of the Rainbow Valley. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the wide open spaces and stretch your legs at Tarndale Lakes. We also visit Hell's Gate, Conner’s Creek, Island Saddle (New Zealand's highest pass), Coldwater Creek, the historic Rainbow Accommodation House, and if you're brave you can cross the Lee's Creek swing bridge. Overnight at Top House, an historic accommodation house in the Nelson Lakes region, you will enjoy an evening stepping back in time with great hospitality. Day 4: Begins with a hearty breakfast, then a visit to Lake Rotoiti, the Doc visual display center, Lake Rotoroa and a lavender farm, before heading down the Wairau valley through farmland and vineyards back to Blenheim by 5.30 pm.
