The aim of this tour is to take you south to see parts of Thailand many tourists overlook in their rush to the beach resorts. Peninsula Thailand may well be home to some of the world's best beaches but it is also a treasure trove of culture and countryside waiting to be discovered.

Starting in Bangkok you will discover the Thai capital, where golden spires, ancient temples, klongs (canals) and traditional riverine lifestyles juxtapose with the modern glass and steel skyscrapers. Heading south we will show you floating markets, temples, caves, mangroves and quiet beaches of the Thai peninsular. Finish this tour with a few nights in Phuket, Krabi or Samui to complete a perfect Thai holiday.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Bangkok. Upon your arrival in Bangkok, you will be welcomed by your guide and brought to Sofitel Silom. Be awed by the grandeur of the highly revered Emerald Buddha at Grand Palace, the iconic cultural symbol of Bangkok before admiring the stately reclining Buddha in Wat Po, Bangok's oldest temple and first school of traditional medicine and Thai massage. Overnight at the Sofitel Silom in Bangkok.

Day 2: Sightseeing in Bangkok. In the morning, experience a first-hand feel of the traditional riverine lifestyles of the Thais as you gently cruise on a boat along Bangkok's residential canals (klongs). At the women-led agricultural cooperative, indulge in the mouth-watering local delicacies and view simple handicrafts produced by these women before taking a ride in the city's iconic tuk tuk to behold rare orchids at an old traditional Thai house.

Crossing over to Koh Kret, an island along Chao Phraya River that houses one of Thailand's oldest Mon settlements, visit the reclining Buddha and white Mon style marble pagodas at Wat Paramai Yikawat before gaining insight into the traditional earthenware-making techniques at the Ancient Mon pottery village. Overnight at the Sofitel Silom in Bangkok. Includes: (B, L).

Day 3: Bangkok - Samut Songkram - Damnoen Saduak - Pranburi. Departing Bangkok in the early morning, a leisurely drive southwards towards the garden province of Samut Songkhram by the Mae Klong river delta will bring you to the unique country market that sprouted along the railway tracks.

Experience the traditional Thai way of life at the bustling Damnoen Saduak floating market as you navigate on a boat through the labyrinth of narrow canals. In the afternoon, explore the Khao Luang Cave, a limestone cavern that houses the magnificent Buddha image cast during King Rama IV's reign in Phetchaburi before arriving in Pranburi in the late afternoon. Overnight at Evason Hua Hin in Pranburi. Includes: (B, L).

Day 4: Pranburi - Chumporn. Arriving in Chumporn from Pranburi, we will bring you to Sam Roi Yot National Park (or Mountain of 300 Peaks), one of Thailand's best preserved nature trove. With the undulating ranges of limestone mountains as a magnificent backdrop, this marine national park is teeming with wildlife and diverse bird species amidst the freshwater marshes, mangrove swamps and pristine coastline.

Upon reaching Laem Sala Beach by boat, trek uphill to Phraya Nakorn Cave where the impressive pavilion offers a photographic moment when sunlight peeks into the cave. We will then head southwards towards Chumporn. Overnight at Tusita Resort and Spa in Chumporn. Includes: (B, L).

Day 5: Chumporn - Khao Sok. Following breakfast, unwind in the scenic beach of Hat Sai Ri and witness the dexterity of trained monkeys as they put on a fascinating show of coconut picking and acrobatics. At Surat Thani, revel in the serene ambience and spritual calm of Suan Mokkhaphalaram (better known as Suan Mokkh), a contemporary forest monastery popular among Buddhist monks and lay mediators. Continuing to Khao Sok, embrace nature at its very best in the world's oldest evergreen rain forest filled with an exotic array of flora and fauna and breathtaking geographical features. Overnight at Elephant Hill Safari in Khao Sok. Includes: (B, L, D).

Day 6: Khao Sok. Today, be awed by the stunning limestone formations and plethora of tropical jungle wildlife as you idly paddle along Sok River in guided inflatable canoes. After lunch, get even closer to nature by trekking across the lush forest vegetation on an elephant's back and immersing in the 'real jungle' atmosphere. Overnight at Elephant Hill Safari in Khao Sok. Includes: (B, L, D).

Day 7: Khao Sok - Phuket.
