Tour Dates: Last weekend in May or first weekend in June or any other dates if the water is high enough.
The '21 mile' section of the Rouge River, which forms the western boundary of the Réserve Rouge-Matawin, is one of the best places to learn and practice whitewater canoe skills. At this time of year the weather and water should be just right. Most of the river is classified as R1 - R2 with only a few challenging sections of R3 and R4 that we can easily lift over. Many of Bill Pollock's canoeing friends will be present and we will have lots of time to help you hone your skills. Don't be afraid to ask questions. No previous whitewater experience is necessary, though you must be able to stern a canoe in flat water and you may want to read Bill Mason's book, "The Path of the Paddle". We will leave from Ste-Agathe-des-Monts at 7:00 hrs Saturday morning to arrive at Lac à L'Aigle north of L'Ascension on the west side of the river at 10:00 hrs. You may also camp at Lac à L'Aigle Friday night. We will camp on the river Saturday night. One dinner, one breakfast and two lunches are included. Notes: All trips are payable in Canadian dollars.
