The culinary traditions of any area are based primarily on geographical location, climate, flora and fauna and local products. Secondary factors are religion, cultural values and popular folklore. Therefore, it is safe to say that a close study of how a society eats and drinks is also a close study of how they live and think. The basis of Cycladic cuisine and more specifically that of Paros, is simple but wise. It is a diet based on vegetables, wild greens, legumes, grains, fish, and very little meat. At its' core is extra virgin olive oil and wine.
