Featured is an excursion to Queen Sirikit Botanical Gardens, the largest and most impressive botanical gardens in Thailand and a leisurely nature hike in Doi Inthanon National Park. The itinerary also includes a full day tour of Bangkok, Thailand’s vibrant and cosmopolitan Capital, and in the Chiang Mai Area; touring includes an excursion to Doi Suthep Temple, one of the most important and magnificent pagodas and shrines in Northern Thailand.

Itinerary

Day 1:
Upon arrival you’ll be met by your tour guide and transferred to your hotel located in the heart of the tourist area of, Bangkok, Thailand’s vibrant capital.

Day 2:
A full day of touring visiting cultural, botanical, historical points of interest in Bangkok.Includes the Erawan Shrine, Suan Pakkad Palace and the Royal Garden. Lunch is included

Day 3:
Early Morning flight to Chiang Mai, Thailand’s 2nd largest city and gateway to Northern Thailand. Upon arrival, you’ll be transferred to your comfortable hotel in Chiang Mai. Sometime in the early afternoon, you’ll be picked up for a highlights tour of Chiang Mai which will include stops at the large outdoor market, the night bazaar and the most important shrines and monuments. Lunch at a local restaurant is included.

Day 4:
A full day of touring will commence after breakfast – first stop will be at nearby Doi Suthep Temple, a stunningly beautiful religious complex with panoramic views of the city. The temple is home to a very sacred Buddhist relic and the central stupa (spiritual monument) is considered to be the most spectacular structure in northern Thailand. From there you’ll visit Bhubing Palace and Gardens, the Queen’s summer retreat; the garden here is famous for it’s many exotic cultivars of roses and a beautiful reservoir. Before heading back to your hotel, you’ll have the opportunity to visit a Hmong Village.

Day 5:
Sometime after breakfast, you’ll be transported to Mae Sa Valley, located in the rural countryside just outside Chiang Mai. Your first stop will be at Queen Sirikit BotanicalGardens, an enormous complex featuring plants, flowers and trees from Southeast Asia. On site is a very interesting indoor rainforest exhibit with manmade waterfalls featuring ferns, cycads, rhododendrons, anthuriums, gingers and other tropical species. Walking through the many greenhouses, you will find a variety of tropical plants including the Watermelon pepper (Peperomia argyreia), exotic Begonias such as Begonia ‘tiger eye” and Begonia ” bow nigra”; in the Ginger family (Zingerberaceae), White Torch Ginger (Elingerea Elatior or Phaemoria Magnifica) and Striped Narrow Leaf Ginger (Alpinia vittata); in the Water Lilly family (Nymphacae), St. Louis Gold’ and “Maroon Beauty” and in the Lotus family Buddha’s Seat (Nelumbo nucifer gaertn ‘fozuolian). The most unusual plant you will ever see is the Bat Plant (Tacca chantrieri). Well-maintained walking trails circle the property passing by several noteworthy displays of tropical plants and flora; featured are Thai plants and local medicinal herbs, the Climber Collection, consisting of over 200 species of climbers and vines and the Thai Rock Garden and Orchid Nursery with over 350 species of native orchids. The gardens are just a short taxi ride from your hotel

The touring will conclude at one of Mae Sa’s Orchard Nurseries, where an immense variety of tropical orchids are grown including Vandas, Phalaenopsis, Calanthes, Cattlyeas, Ascocendas and Dendrobiums Visit the attached Butterfly gardens.Learn how to grow your own orchids!

Day 6:
Scheduled for today is an all day exclusion to Doi Inthanon national Park - includes a visit of the Royal Project, a government sponsored horticultural and agricultural research center, a leisurely nature hike trough the forest, a tour of the Royal Chedis and a stop at the summit of Doi Inthanon, the highest peak in Thailand at 8900 feet above sea level

Day 7:
Today, you’ll be transferred to the Chiang Mai airport for a short flight on Thai airways to Bangkok. Upon arrival in Bangkok, you’ll be transferred to hotel. Sample some of Bangkok’s sizzling nightlife on your final night in the Land of Smiles.

Day 8:
Transfer to the International airport for departure
