This tour explores the beautiful region of Connemara famous for its rugged granite landscapes as well as its beautiful lakes and rivers. The route offers an incredible variety of scenery each day. On our rest day we stay in a lovely family run hotel in the charming seaside village of Roundstone before heading towards the Irish speaking village of Carraroe. The tour finishes up with a visit to the Aran Islands.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in Galway - We meet up in Galway staying in guesthouses close to the city center.
Day 2: From Galway to Westport - We take a coach transfer to the village of Cong, after which the roads are traffic free and we follow a stunning route around Lough Mask to the busy market town of Westport.
Day 3: Croagh Patrick to Leenane - We cycle west between the pilgrimage mountain of Croagh Patrick and Clew Bay, before heading south through the dramatic Delphi valley to the village of Leenane.
Day 4: Connemara to Roundstone - We set out on the coast road but then head inland across the open bog land of the Connemara National Park to our two-day stop in the seaside village of Roundstone.
Day 5. Dogs Bay Beach - Dogs Bay beach, is we think one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
Day 6: Irish Speaking Village of Carraroe - We continue cycling alongside fields of bog and stone to the Irish-speaking village of Carraroe.
Day 7: The Aran Islands - There is an option to take the morning ferry to the Aran Islands, which we explore for the day, before taking a return ferry and bus into Galway City that evening.
Day 8: Departure Day - A final breakfast together before you head homeward bound.
